was it just me or was that scene on the porch really strained?

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
That was the creepiest thing evah!
That was some vintage Chris Carter nonsense, yo.
No fooling!
Original intro. was awesome.
Oh, yes.
That was some vintage Chris Carter nonsense, yo.
Indeed, and I loved it. The went extra deep into the rabbit hole, but Mulder and Scully are back on my tv screen so I'm happy.
I'm less happy that I'll probably still be at work when tomorrow's ep airs.
Holy crap, Chris Carter has forgotten anything he ever knew about subtlety or ambiguity. The original show never committed itself until the very end of an episode, and even then usually left it unclear what actually happened. This? was... just right out there, from the very beginning.
Plus, as Vonnie says, vintage Carter nonsense.
I watched it with a bunch of fangirls, and we had a bingo list -- we got nearly everything on the list, except for the pencils in the ceiling.
Mulder and Scully are back on my tv screen so I'm happy.
This overwhelmed all else. That said, I can get pickier. It had the eye rolling feeling of watching a pilot episode, but I forgave that quickly enough. The only thing that really took away from the warm and fuzzy feelings of having new X-Files on my tv was the 'in your face' scenes between Mulder and Scully. There were 2 or 3 close up scenes where they were interacting that just seemed flat to me. I don't know what emotion they were going for, but it didn't work. I'll likely watch again so I can be more specific, but more than once I had to tilt my head and wished they had done another take.
But, but, but.... X-Files!
Since the first run of the X-Files, the word "mansplaining" has entered my vocabulary. Yeah, I'm looking at you, McHale, as you tell Scully all about alien abductions.
I'm lucky that my neighbor gave me a heads up on football, as the show started nearly half an hour late. But I set my DVR for an hour extra on the end, so it's all good.
Will I pick things apart? Sure. But it's so nice to have new episodes to watch again.
I set my DVR to record the news broadcast after so I caught it all, but I can imagine there are quite a number of people that recorded football.
Did anyone else lol when the doo-doo-doo spooky music started right as Scully looked at the portrait of W?
This makes me so happy, I can overlook all the places where it stumbled a bit. Mulder+Scully+WeirdSh!t=4Evah
