The ep was directed by the stunt coordinator. His first time directing. I too thought the handheld camera work in the fight between the rail cars was odd. I almost never notice stunt doubles unless I look for them. Things moving fast I just don't notice it.

That episode actually combined several Buffy episodes (or, you know, leaned heavily in their direction): Anubis reminded me of nothing so much as the Judge; despite that, I got an early Drusilla/Spike vibe from Pandora and Anubis (though Pandora is FAR less crazy than Drusilla); and, yeah, totally The Gift at the end.
I hope Abbie doesn't come back wrong.

She's Hawkgirl, who has had a weird complicated backstory in the comics. (Seriously, it involves reincarnation and another planet and shit.) I'm hoping the TV version has a simpler backstory.
So as of yet, we don't know if she's a meta or what.
