Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Heroes Reborn was interesting. I'd skipped most of the end of the first run, so I'm obviously missing out on some of the continuity ... but I can live with that. I am sorry that some of the actors I liked have gone on to other, if not better, things.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Is it just me, or does next week's Doctor Who baddie look an awful lot like the Gentlemen?

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

If Daleks have nightmares, (spoiler) is definitely something they have nightmares about.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Last week's episode was a lot of meandering setup but this week's episode was focused, intense, creatively twisty, and a general hoot. In both episodes, though, the Missy/Clara team-up was very entertaining.

Did we get an actual explanation for why Missy isn't dead or did she literally just say, whatever, I'm back.

Both, actually. She said that in the first episode, but explained she used the same teleport trick as here to escape last season.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I just learned that Michelle Gomez is married to Jack Davenport (who spent years playing Moffat's authorial insert), which makes it much likelier to me that she'll be Missy for the long haul.

That was NOT what I expected the origin of the Dark One's dagger to be. Although it does explain a few things.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

OUAT:

The Merida wig was terrible. The episode itself was okay. I thought Emma as a villain would be slightly more interesting, though.

Ann, that's a ferret.

OUAT: I was more disappointed that we never saw Emma's progression to becoming a villain. An episode of what happened at Camelot would have been nice.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I figure they'll fill us in ... but the season opener was to get us hooked. Again.
