Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I just am wondering what's the difference between a promo and a trailer and why one gets blackfont and the other gets whitefont.

Trailers tend to much longer than promos, so there's more than just a brief glance at what's coming, and they occasionally have stuff from more than one episode, although I don't think that's the case here. In fact I think much of the footage is actually from next week's Flash.

Maybe the difference between black and white is that who's there is okay, but not how they got there?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I think a promo airs on tv and a trailer airs in a movie theatre. It is this darn internet thing that is confusing!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, wait, casting of existing characters is spoilery. That's me remembering what we've already decided, I think, not having an opinion.

Well, but we're taking about only TV shows, which is why I wondered what the difference was between a promo and a trailer. (I also think of trailers as being for movies, not TV.)

I was thinking of promos as previews of episodes for a currently airing series, while a trailer is for a series that is not yet on the air. I know the vocabulary is blurry for TV.

Compassionately intolerant

I'm amused that I even have an opinion (sort of) about this issue.

Promos and teasers = tv

Trailers and teasers = movie

"Previews" can be for both.

The entertainment industry needs to get their taxonomy in order!

Okay, white font it is until someone tells me different.

Something in the Arrow finale occurred to me while watching the Legends promo. The promo shows Sara Lance being pulled out of the Lazarus Pit, which might explain while Nyssa is so (relatively) docile in the presence of the new Ra's. She probably traded her fealty for Sara's life.

Another idle thought — I wonder how long Quentin will be kept in the dark about Sara being alive again.

I also wondered if part of the bargain Ollie made with Malcolm was to use the Lazarus Pit to bring Sara back, as well as to not destroy Starling City.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Poor, Quentin. His daughters really keep putting him through the emotional wringer.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I also wondered if part of the bargain Ollie made with Malcolm was

I was thinking that the arrows Malcolm supplied to Thea just made Sara *mostly dead* .

I can see it now...

Sara: Why won't my arms move?

Malcolm: You've been mostly dead all year.

Oliver: We had Miracle Max make a pill to bring you back.

Sara: Who are you? Are we enemies? Why am I naked? Where's Nyssa?

Oliver: One: Sara. Two: Ratings, and three: I married Nyssa.

Malcolm: You just wiggled your middle finger! That's wonderful!

Sara: I've always been a quick healer.
