Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
VONNIE! WTF! Bridget Regan FTW!
Seriously, that might have been the greatest thing I've seen on TV this year so far. I slapped my throw pillows and cackled like a deranged person for like 10 minutes. The brushing off of the letters from the chyron! I have so much respect for the show for its willingness to own its crack and move along its relentless crazy plot train. And it does all that with so much OTT panache.
And that stuff they pulled with Petra! The way they cut to the commercials immediately after the thing! There was actual *screeching* on my part. And sandwiched between these two OMGWTF moments, you have that genuinely moving scene with Jane and Rogelio. MY GOD ROGELIO, HOW GREAT IS HE. "“You can’t have The Passions Of Santos without Santos! Then it’s just Passions. And that show failed!” I laughed like a drain, thinking back to Spike chained in Giles' bathtub yelling about how Timmy was down in the bloody well.
I don't know where the show belongs though. I feel like sensibility-wise, it belongs in Box Set because it reminds me of Pushing Daisies and The Middleman, which are both Box Set shows. But despite its heightened reality (and a touch of magic realism, maybe?) it doesn't have a clear-cut SF/F element. It's a telenovela dramedy so... in Comedy? Or in Natter with white-font, but I can't keep up with Natter. Honestly, I'd like it the best if we could talk about it here.
In short: More Buffistas should watch this show because IT IS FUCKING AWESOME.
I wish I had time to watch it, but we're already 2 episodes behind on Agent Carter, and we're trying to watch all of Transparent before our Amazon Prime trial runs out. (I need to discuss that show somewhere. That family has SO MANY PROBLEMS, none of which have to do with Maura.)
Maybe we can catch up with Jane the Virgin on summer hiatus.
And I never got around to watching The Librarians, either. Only so many hours in a week, you know?
I've heard so many great things about Transparent. It's on my list of many things I should get to at some point. There is so much good TV in various different avenues nowadays. I mean, I have a Netflix membership and haven't even watched Orange Is the New Black yet. I have that, and The 100 (several folks on my LJ Flist has been recommending it and hey, I already watch the majority of CW shows so why not), and seasons 2 and 3 of Luther before it comes back and (before Netlix takes it away). And, uh, several eps of Grantchester piling up on my DVR. If only I could watch TV as a full-time job.
Maybe we can catch up with Jane the Virgin on summer hiatus.
It'd make for a good summer hiatus show, although right now, I like having it on my screen because it's so miserable and snowy here that it's lovely to see something so bright and sunny and warm. Well, except for occasional murders.

Another way we miss ita. She always knew where stuff should probably go. In this case I suspect comedy is probably best. It fits pretty well, and there's very little being discussed in there right now and probably won't be until Community starts up again, so there's plenty of room.
That is a good point. Not that I'm trying to kick discussion of JtV out of here, but it's a good point.
Another way we miss ita.
Yeah. As I was writing the post, I was thinking, "ita would have told me in no uncertain terms if the show discussion belonged here or not."
Comedy sounds like a good fit if there isn't much going on over there. It's been chockful of HSQ moments lately and I'd hate to spoil folks on this thread who might want to watch it later.
Finally saw Sleepy Hollow. Relieved that I was not the only or having Complete Hotass Issues with the baddie.
Was the Pied Piper on this week's Flash?
Was the Pied Piper on this week's Flash?
Yes, and last week. Last week he was the main villain, but he was involved this week, too.
GORILLA GRODD! GORILLA GRODD! GORILLA GRODD!
I'm going *ape*shit ovah heah.
Glad to see that being dead (or almost dead) has not affected Oliver's unerring ability to make the worst decisions in any given circumstances.
t stands with Felicity on the subject of Merlyn, as with all things
