Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Thea being that good in such a short time kind of stretches credulity, except for the fact that they were probably training all day, every day. And Laurel hasn't, because of that pesky day job, for one.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

But she has righteous anger...

That's gotta count, right?

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Maybe for Carrie, other people still have to learn how to aim.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Abigail Adams would have been in her 30s. However, by 1777, she had had six children, one stillborn, in 10 years. She had run the farm during John's many absences. It seemed through those years that he was only home long enough to get her pregnant again. When money ran short because he was off revolutionizing instead of lawyering, she tracked down clients with unpaid bills and demanded payment. It's much easier to believe in Abigail Adams as supernatural crime fighter than it is to believe in Dawn as Abigail Adams.

Her Dawn-ness was distracting to me as well. Even more alarning, she's TWENTY NINE.

I am very very old. I am Icabod old.

Ann, that's a ferret.

When I was in grad school (okay, this was 30 years ago, so my memory may be wrong), I did a paper on Abigail Adams's correspondence during the Revolutionary War. My memory is, she was very good at running the farm in John's absence. However, she hated doing it. She repeatedly told John that she wanted him home so he could run the farm while she went back to her regular role. Fascinating individual.

I could see her as a reluctant supernatural crime fighter.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I suspect what she really wanted was to get back to having time to read. Her parents didn't believe in education for girls, but she managed to read everything in sight, so that when John met her, he was surprised at her erudition.

(yes, I'm a fan.)

yes, I'm a fan.

Not a lot there to not be a fan of as far as I've ever heard/read.

Thrive to spite them

I finished The Librarians (in my head I say it the way they do on the show...you can hear the Pooh case when they try to come up with a lame cover story. Even if the characters in the show can't hear the Pooh Case, it's there). I watched it in the order intended rather than broadcast order.

I'm still adjusting to seeing Christian Kane not know how to kick ass competently (which why the last episode was a nice surpise). I like all the characters and even though some of the special effects were really really bad I hope it gets picked up for a second season because it was fun to watch.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Liked it better than the movies. Better pacing, due to shorter time periods. It is a souffle - not overcooking is important.

I'm re-watching the season 2 finale of Orphan Black because I miss the show and DAMN not until April? The clone dance party still gives me such a happy moment and THEN I also marvel that they pulled it off. I've even seen the how-they-did-it stuff, and it still dazzles me. One of my favorite television moments ever.
