I complained to John Rogers about conflating the sword in the stone with Excalibur, and assures me a) he knows b) most people don't care.

So the sword extracted from the stone is different from the sword that is distributed by watery tarts lying in ponds?
I think Excalibur itself originally came from the lake, and it was returned to her. I don't remember the origin of the sword in the stone.
I thought both were called Excalibur? As in, that is the name of Arthur's sword, no matter the origin.
