Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I really wish they would team up with the BBC or Sky or someone, and move the production to the UK.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm watching reruns of Dark Angel and really enjoying it. Either it's better than I remember or I've been out of work way too long.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Apparently they raffled some tickets for a bunch of fans and hosted a screening for The Flash/Arrow crossover (both hours) last Saturday in Los Angeles. I guess it was to spread positive words-of-mouth? But apparently folks attending the screening all had to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so there are no real plot details out there.

I didn't know this was a thing TV shows do now! I mean, sure, screen pilots for SDCC, but just to do a random screening (OK, it's being sold as an "event") in the middle of the season? I call shenanigans! Mostly because I am bitter that there are people who have already seen the damn eps and I have to wait another week and a half.

ETA: some photos of the actors from the event: [link]

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Dark Angel got remarkably better in its second season, not in the least because of Baby!Jensen Ackles, but also in better writing and characterization because of an improved creative team. I'm actually kind of bitter we didn't get a third season.

We stopped watching when the news cut in and decided to just watch the whole thing on Hulu tomorrow. I hate missing a chunk of a show.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Pumps?

What doesn't make sense about that word?

AFAIK, pumping brakes has two meanings. One is trying to stop on slippery surfaces, ice, gravel, etc. when you don't have ABS. Second is to adjust brakes after putting new pads or replacing the brake lines/etc. to "bleed" the air out of the lines.

To use it as a metaphor to mean stop seems incorrect to me. A better brake metaphor would be "slams the brakes" or "puts the brakes on..." instead.

It seems that if one was pumping the brakes on a show, it would stop for a wile, then show an ep, then stop a couple of weeks, show an episode.

I may be far too much a mechanic's son for their metaphor.
