Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

You also don't legally NEED a government-issued ID to vote in New York. (I don't remember what's necessary to register in the first place. I think the address would be a bigger problem than the ID, but he can always claim he's living with Abby since she's paying all of his bills.)

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Arrow! That was DELIGHTFUL. Finally some humour! I loved Mama Smoak a lot and really hope we get to see her again. That scene where Oliver and Diggle meet her sent me to a giggle fit. Especially Oliver mouthing "Mom?" and Diggle's reaction to Oliver nixing Sara in the Arrow Cave with "Oh really? Who's she gonna tell?" It's that look down on Baby Sara first that really made that moment.

ROY BETTER NOT BE THE ONE TO HAVE KILLED SARA NO NO DO NOT WANT.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Do NOT fuck with Felicity Smoak, yo. Also, goth!Felicity is THE CUTEST EVER, which is maybe not the reaction I'm supposed to have, but whatevs.

ROY BETTER NOT BE THE ONE TO HAVE KILLED SARA NO NO DO NOT WANT.

I doubt it; she wouldn't have reacted to Roy like she did.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Man, Felicity keeps making me love her more.

And, yet? No salmon ladder. I'm willing to overlook it this time because Felicity struggling to do sit ups is an amusing substitute, but how much longer must we wait?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

And, yet? No salmon ladder.

Truly the salmon ladder is the Mandy of the DC universe.

Meanwhile, I've found a remarkable website relating to Doctor Who, the TARDIS Eruditorum: [link] The creator is working his way through the Doctor Who adventures right from An Unearthly Child. He's into the Matt Smith era, with Amy and Rory; The Angels Take Manhattan is in there, I don't think there's any Clara yet.

This is hardcore stuff. He writes with a strong socio-political agenda (leftist) informing his analysis. He doesn't just cover the televised adventures, but also a lot of the books and audio adventures, and adjacent works like the Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood. He also takes frequent digressions to discuss other contemporary cultural works and how they might relate - such diverse items as Z-Cars, The Prisoner, Firefly, The Singing Detective, Coupling, Life on Mars and Billie Piper's pop hit, Honey to the B. And The Thick of It. And My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

The comments are for the most part pretty interesting too. Not for everyone, but if anyone is looking for a real in-depth engagement with Who, it could be worth checking out. (Or if you just want to see what he says about Buffy or Firefly.)

Yeah, on second thought, that was clearly a misdirect. I think it was probably a way his subconscious was reminding him of the horrible stuff he'd done under Mirakuru's influence. I bet the next ep is gonna deal with that cop Roy had killed in "Seeing Red."

Felicity saving herself pretty much made my night. As was her gently and firmly shutting it down when Oliver was saying all that stuff with "you know how I feel about her," like, Oliver, I love ya buddy, but that was the DEFINITION Of Dangling Maybes that Felicity told you she did not want.

Don't fuck with Felicity Smoak, yo. I liked that Ollie was almost a secondary character in this episode. (Except -- oh my god, did I squee when Ollie and Roy were shooting arrows side by side during the bank riot. LOVE.)

Seriously. Good for her.

I can't see how Ollie and Thea being roommates could lead to anything but sunshine and puppies. There's no possible way THAT could go horrifically wrong. (Also, MALCOLM YOU CREEPER GET OFF THE ROOF OH MY GOD.)

Compassionately intolerant

SH:

Ichabod littered! When he stripped off his I Voted sticker (which was adorbs), he dropped it in the street. Give a Hoot Ichabod!!

Having just come off polling place captain duties, I was totally charmed by those scenes. I only wish my precinct was that quiet!

In DC, it is not illegal for two people to go into a voting booth (or, in our case, stand in front of a rickety pop-up table).

They've done such a good job casting this show. Seriously. Ichabod and Katrina look so well together. And IchAbbie is a perfect match of wills and wits.

Ichabod's wig should win a best supporting something award.

Arrow's hair and makeup people should take a leaf from their book.

I've grown ridiculously fond of Arrow's flashback!wig. It just makes me laugh, every damn time.
