I like how it establishes that the Time Lords can switch sexes.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
the first serious female Time Lord in the series
Oooh, Zombie Mary Tamm just walked by my window heading in your direction. You might want to hide in the attic.

OK, in my experience. I mean Donna was The Doctor (if not a time lord, which may have been why she had to suffer the fate she did - yep, still bitter on that one). I know we've seen women from Guarifray (sp?) but I don't remember one in my somewhat limited viewing experience who was significant show-wise.
Pssst, Frank, it's Gallifray...
and I had a typo!
Yeah, I was even farther wrong on that one than I thought I was (the spelling, I mean).
Doctor Who: That was fantastic. I loved the callback to The Invasion.
I'd been, not exactly spoiled for the big reveal, but I was aware of the "Missy = Mistress = Master" theory, which was much better than the "she's the Rani" idea.
I loved the callback to The Invasion.
What was that?
The Master theory seemed to be the prevailing theory, so I thought it was sort of a non-surprise surprise.
Not sure how I feel about the whole death thing, which seems to have huge ramifications for the cosmology of the universe, but it's unclear what's actually true about it. Also Cybermen can run on just skeletons?
What was that?
Cybermen marching down the steps of St Paul's Cathedral.
Also Cybermen can run on just skeletons?
I'm not entirely clear on it, but I think they also need a consciousness from the mini-Matrix. I'm lost as to how that thing works - from what we've seen, although the invasion is happening in contemporary London, it's taken consciousnesses from distant places in the future (Into the Dalek), not to mention non-humans (Deep Breath).
Also Cybermen can run on just skeletons?
You know, I just realised, Cybermen don't run on anything. They're like elephants that way.
I just read my first internet comment having a meltdown about the Master's gender reassignment. Apparently it "cheapened the complete history of all of the Time Lord characters, and in so doing have damaged the whole concept of DW... It is anathema, abomination." I approve. I like my misogynistic rants to be hilariously histrionic. (For what it's worth, I regard the idea of changing the Doctor's gender to make far less difference to his incarnations' shared essentials than making him Scottish did.)
So that rant essentially says "Euw! Girl cooties on Gallifrey! Euw!"
