'Sleeper'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Ichabod as a badass with the laser-sighted crossbow was fun, though. I predict Illusionary Year of Training fic.

And we'll get Abby (or Jenny) teaching Ichabod how to drive!

that was a nice workaround with the Amulet of Seeing Abraham and Letting Him Have Lines. Though the scene with the bread and the knife was cool without words.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

And I had the same reaction to what they did to Rene Montoya. Way to take a great character and make her unlikeable.

I was so thrilled to see Montoya...and really unhappy with her portrayal. Boo.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

That was a very confusing first 15 minutes of Sleepy Hollow.

I have no idea what the fuck is going on, but I'm just going to roll with it.

I think that's probably for the best.

Naked headless guy is ripped.

Oh yes.

That was very cool.

Timothy Busfield as Franklin is some brilliant casting. I do hope we see more of him.

Another nice workaround is Henry controlling the 2nd horseman instead of becoming him. 'Cause why give up John Noble if you don't have to?

Wrod.

I wonder if he wakes up in the morning and giggles in delight.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

Actually, at the time I was saying "stupid, stupid Katrina" because the Horseman was standing right there about two feet in front of her. She couldn't wait until he was further away, or had his back turned, or in the other room? Obviously they wanted to show her all spunky and defiant, but it didn't show her thinking too strategically. Also, when can she and can't she do things with her witchy powers? Does she have no self-protective abilities at all?

Edit: Huh... I need to rewatch. Someone on previously.tv pointed out that

let's just say that she has very very limited powers due to Purgatory and Henry is suppressing them - fine. I'll accept that. It does make sense. But do you realize that the way she was tied up, she could have literally stood up from the chair and freed herself. She was not bound to the chair. She just had her arms pulled back behind the chair. ANYONE could escape that. Simply Stand Up.

And if that is true, the scenes with Katrina are even worse, because she was just sitting there before he came back from wherever, wasn't she?

That's quite the image.

Darn it. My TiVo didn't record Sleepy Hollow. I have a season pass and all the settings look right. I've double checked everything and arranged to catch a rerun on Thursday, but still. I am disappointed.

Be careful what you wish for, given his first appearance. I do wish they'd had him speak with a British accent though - wouldn't all the Founding Fathers have sounded vaguely English?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

In 1780, a British accent sounded more American than it does now. Ichabod's accent is the really fake one.
