Person of Interest became more and more something that belonged here over time. At first it did seem like a procedural show built around a sophisticated computer slightly advanced for our current level of tech, but eventually it revealed itself to be a procedural show build around a sentient, mostly-omniscient AI, which I thought was the coolest part of the show. But a lot of the people discussing it in Procedurals were in it for the procedural aspect of the show and not much for the sentient, mostly-omniscient AI - I think I may have suggested that should I ever become more than a casual viewer and wish to discuss the AI, I'd do that here. I may or may not have carried that out as intended. (Sorry, can't remember much of anything I've said about it in actual discussion of the show itself.)

I was one of the people that argued for keeping the POI discussion in Procedurals based on what the show was at the time, but based on what it because after that point, I'd be fine with the discussion moving here next season.

I think I would too, now! But it was getting so-so reviews when it started, and I was already watching so many things. It sounds like it's become a show that is totally up my alley.

I'm not sure why Crossbones would belong here. Messing up invention timelines doesn't make AU, really.

Seems a little more technology centric than your usual historical mishmash. That is the alteration in the timestream is not just by-the-way, but a central McGuffin for the series. But aside from this it looks like there may be an actual ghost (though it could also be a repeated hallucination).

I'd be more likely to believe it was a ghost if the doctor hadn't called it 100%.

Personally, I see a big difference between "they didn't have that yet!" and "they don't have that now!". Primarily because one is a staple of "historical" drama.

Doctor is not always right. We will see. And again, I can't think of many historical shows where the "they did not have that yet" was the show's central McGuffin.

He might not be right, but as random guesses go it pulls it out of the "oh, you have that headache where you can see real ghosts! I know that one" territory.

I bet you five internet dollars they said "I want a piracy story with a chronometer in it for conflict--make it so" rather than "we'll have someone invent something way ahead of time and that will be the point." I'd be impressed if more than 50% of the cast and crew knew the timing was wrong.

I mean, Port Royal didn't look like that in the early 1700s (devastated by earthquake and tsunami in 1692--It hasn't been level since--I'm not deeming the show genre for that either) and the British would not be operating in lawful strength in that time period either--part of the reason given for half of it sinking beneath the sea (66% to be accurate) was because it was the most evil city on the Earth (and one of the biggest in the Americas--only Boston was bigger at the time).

Historical inaccuracies, especially when they're made to put two places or things together that most people know no details about, IMO do not a genre show make.

If I don't know the chronometer wasn't invented until whenever (the word not used until the end of the war the show is set in) then it's their job to tell me so I know it's sci fi.

if you tell me there's an AI that spikes the plot of every episode (technically I can stop there) by scanning every face and action in the US and spitting out SSNs and the programmer works with it--yeah, I know that doesn't really happen and so do most non-conspiracy theorists, and what we have is a sci fi procedural/action show. At least, that was my argument at the start. I don't think one needs be made now.

There were lots of interesting moments, but the ep definitely didn't live up to the impossibly high standard it has set for itself.

Do we think that the notes in the Isle of Dr. Moreau is Ethan's last bargaining chip? Kinda cool that Kira is being exposed to all that.

I was cool with the Tony stuff, but my main problem was that is just felt too rushed. It was all, Clone Of The Week style. If there had been a couple episodes to build up all the stuff the rushed through before sending him on his way, it may have felt more organic in general. I dunno.

It almost felt inside jokey, like, oh, here's a way for Jordan to kiss Tatiana!

I still love this show with everything though.

Orphan Black: I have now watched the episode, and my main reaction is that I want podcasts of Cosima ruling the lab in Runewars.
