Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. And John Hurt, so wonderful.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I recognised Tom Baker immediately, having seen him in Monarch of the Glen, and having an idea of how he's aged. (He was pretty funny in that.)

When I was a kid, my favourite Doctor was the Third Doctor. He was the incumbent when I started watching.

I never really realized how big Tom Baker is until Monarch of the Glen. He towered over people.

As a fan of Little Britain, it was very hard not to intone "Britain, Britain, Britain" when I saw him. [link]

For a while, my tagline was "If you're going on holiday, and the Arctic is fully booked, why not try Scotland?"

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I enjoyed the hell out this episode while still being pissed at Moffat. Moffat is the anti-Minear isn't he? Before he is through every dark corner in the Whoverse will be retconned out of existence. I'm still waiting for the Daleks and Cyberman to end up as happy harmless fluffy bunnies. (Of course in all fairness, I remember that the fate of the Sontarans and Rutans in the original series was to someday make peace. I think in the very distance future the Sontarans will become known as the greatest florists the universe has ever seen - mentioned in passing by the doctor. We never see the future in which that happens. I don't remember what the Rutans will end up doing once they make peace with the Sontarns.)

OK the video did not have The Doctor. The novelization expanded on the film and included the 7th doctor. So I guess Sontaran florists are not canon after all. What I'm remember is "Shakedown". I guess because their were photos from the video in the novel I remember it as a video.
