About 20 years ago they tried a pilot with focus on K-9, and also including Sarah Jane. It never went anywhere.
This time they are focusing on Sara Jane, to good effect.

Claudia Black was severely underused on Moonlight tonight. i'm really rather glad the network did the dirty work for me with regards to cancelling this show.
