A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

So the Duke of Edinburgh is not a zombie. Probably.

If anything, he is a werewolf. /DoctorWho

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Which is where?

Here's [link] a good historical summary.

The short version: The colonists had established friendly relations with the Indians on Croatoan (modern day Hatteras). The members of the so-called "lost colony," including Gov. John White's daughter and son-in-law and their new baby, Virginia Dare, were left at a camp at Roanoke with the intention that they would find a more suitable place for a colony. Because of weather, White had to return immediately to England and was planning to come back the next spring with supplies. He told them to carve their new location on a tree. Due to a series of problems with getting supplies and ships, White didn't return for three years. He found the word Croatoan carved on a tree and knew the colonists must have gone to the island and the safety of friendly Indians. He tried to get there, but was unable to because of weather. When a ship finally visited the island a hundred years later, it found a tribe that included light-skinned, gray-eyed members and that used some European tools.

Wow, the new Ollie-narrated opening for Arrow is kind of clunky and off-putting.

But man, I loves me some Diggle. ("Don't look at me; my alter ego is his black driver.")

And t DC Comics geek I know the new alderman isn't *Jason* Blood, but I swear I keep thinking "Etrigan!" t /DC Comics geek

t edit And one more thing: can we just skip how ever many episodes we have to endure before Ollie starts training Roy? With Diggle? Shirtless? I don't need the narrative arc, really. I'm good.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Brother Blood is a different DC villain.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The bondage arrow is nowhere near as iconic as the boxing glove, but it is pretty ridiculous.

Man Kelly Hu is sharp and cool and stuff, but I had hopes for her stunt work. With all that conveniently falling long-established wig, it's either the worst job of an actress doing her own stunts, or...SOP.

Ming-Na Wen is doing a good job, and when (if) they stunt her out, it's well handled. Buffy was AWFUL, Jennifer Garner was great (better than the script, for sure), Gina Torres also very good.

I admit I zone out during the island scenes so I don't know if his fling there is competent. At least she can walk right, which is more than I can say for the female hunter on SPN last night.

On the boy side, I can't translate Colton to anyone who fights heroically, but that problem is before the the stunts.

Outside the genre, last night's NCIS had action, and they're all so bad. Jethro is supposed to be master badassed, but no.

I want good action! Gimme good action! I keep thinking it should be easier than the acting, but that's silly. I guess, though, I've at least taught people to move unstupidly, even if that has nothing to do with stuntwork.

So White China and the Hood are free next week? That makes the cops look weak, man.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Tomorrow People was below "Eh" grade. I may check back in a couple weeks, but I can't see this being a Wednesday night regular viewing for me.

Right? Except I thought that was supposed to be Black Canary in the previews, not China White. (Really, all I could see was tight black outfit, white/platinum hair. But I thought the preview's text said something about Black Canary...or that might have been wishful thinking on my part.)

Just one boxing glove arrow is all I ask. Or a snarky reference to one, or one lying on a table in the workshop.
