'The Train Job'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, things that wouldn't surprise me about next week:

  • 1 death, good or bad, Daddy Merlin first
  • Tommy goes bad
  • Someone new joins the team
  • Colin Salmon leaves the show (their relationship is weaksauce anyway--I never felt it, as much as I like him)

Maybe he can be the one to join the team, and then he can stay? I really like the character and the actor.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Tommy goes bad

In yesterday's episode, when Ollie asked Tommy what he does at Global Evil Merlyn Inc., and Tommy said "I work closely with my father," I started wondering if he knew Daddy Merlyn's I-can-create-an-earthquake plans (clearly Daddy Merlyn watched Batman Begins). Because I just can't see Tommy being on board with that, no matter how angry he is at Ollie. I feel like if Tommy knew about the Earthquake Macguffin, he'd be horrified and against it, but also not willing to be on Ollie's side, either.

Someone new joins the team

Gotta be Roy of the red hoodie. But I assume if Roy finds out Ollie is the hood guy, then Thea finds out, too. Which is okay by me.

They were too liberal with the cutesy names. Because Thea being Speedy is...she's not joining too, is she?

Also, he's the WORST at secret identitying ever. I think that arrogant asshole is as written, but he's not even trying. How many different reactions to the news can we have? How many people can go "Huh? Huh. Okay, right, so dinner is at 8 tonight, or do you need to eat and run? I can pack something for you, some snacks, and are you staying hydrated?"

I'd really like to see Alex Kingston in a Canary suit...

My theory is that Sarah isn't really dead and she ends up becoming Canary, since the pet canary was hers.

Compassionately intolerant

Matt Smith agrees that Strax, Vastra and Jenny should have their own show.

He clearly loves the characters and talks about what he based the Doctor and Strax's relationship on.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I loved seeing the entire Arrow Cave team out in the field doing the undercover work together.

Yes, that was terrific.

Nikita has been renewed for a short and final season link.

Well, glad it's coming back. And kinda glad they have an end date to work with (although I would like it to keep going forever because it is both fun to watch and a good show) because I think we'll get a satisfying resolution out of it.

It's an awesome show, but at the same time fans are probably lucky it has lasted this long.
