Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Art Crawl!!!

I believe so - that or something similar.

I'm glad we know what happened to Maria's annoying friend now.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

love how the Doctor and Donna's chant ended up sounding like the tree frog sound used for the Ood. "Doctor! Donna! Friend!" Pretty freaking genius.

The writing for Donna and her sympathies seemed a bit wonky this ep, like they were trying to shoe-horn in "Donna is compassionate" into the ep, and yet she was so very awesome during the Pompei ep and it felt Right.

I don't know, maybe I'm almost expecting her to hold onto her prejudices against aliens given her introduction into the universe. She just seems to have a switch that doesn't seem in character, as much as I understand her.

And also? She really is having crap experiences with the Doctor. I'm brain-cramping, did Rose and Martha have a comparable streak of awfulness?

edit: "Every song must end"? eep!

However, given this episode and what I heard about a scene cut from the US airing of the Pompeii episode, the two of them are making some serious inroads as deities in a few places.

And aren't almost ALL Doctor Who adventures premised world and/or life threatening catastrophes/incidents?

BSG: See, THIS plan makes much more sense. I am saddened that they had to injure Gaeta to arrive at the plan.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Did they cut the final scene of the Pompeii ep from the US airing? Shame. I know that some people here didn't like it, but I thought it was hi-larious.

Yes they cut it, but I saw a screen-shot of the bas-relief (someone linked it on another board I lurk at), and I laughed my ass off.

ETA - the person who posted commented that they wondered if it was a one-off joke or something that may play in later, and this bit with the Ood makes me REALLY wonder. Especially with that all songs end bit.

I just have the sense-memory that Rose and Martha had some wonderful joyous moments before the shit hit the fan, and that there was more, well, wonder and joy as well as laughter and awesomeness to alleviate the catastrophic horrors, whereas it seems that so far Donna is just getting the tears and horror. I may be wrong. It may be that Donna is an older, more mature woman who isn't as giggly and bubbly as the other two.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

ZOMG Kira Nerys on BSG. Cognitive dissonance ahoy!

I think that is a big part of it (and why I've really warmed up to her after not particularly caring for her in the Xmas episode, apart from her disgust with the Doctor's cold-bloodedness at the end). I read somewhere that Catherine Tate's better known for a comedy show in the UK.

Of course, I was totally unaware I was watching Simon Pegg in the episode he was in until I saw a random Doctor Who Confidential a few weeks back. Mainly because I didn't Simon Pegg from Adam at the time I saw it (it was during Nine's run).

ZOMG Kira Nerys on BSG.

Wait, did Nana Visitor join the show or is that a character name. If the former, than hilarious cause she seems to follow Michelle Forbes everywhere.
