So I've been marathoning Pushing Daisies, and the big standout for me is 1) Kristen Chenoweth is AWESOME and the crap she took was hysterical and demeaning and she took it like a champ. Have some mud thrown on your face, let the dog slip you some tongue, etc.. And 2) Olive Snook is AWESOME and the star of the show. Forget Ned and Chuck and their treacle romance. Olive is where it's at. Olive's UST and URT is a full-fledged thing of beauty, in that she is the third wheel, yet has such a rich individual life and her one-sided romance doesn't come off as in service to the main romance, but almost something greater than it.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Yeah, Olive really shined, and I loved how they handled her character.
Okay, really? It's a pastime to send the showrunner Sterek exhortation? Like here: [link] or [link] ? And there are some really seasoned fandom people talking there...
Did I miss a step in the evolution of fandom? Is there a point at which it would have been appropriate to do that for Dean/Castiel or Neal/Peter or any other slash (or non-canon, let's be honest--shows are pretty clear about what ships they're entertaining and what they're not) ships?
Like...
Seeing a nice, steady handful of considerate and and thoughtful tweets to Jeff about wanting to see the Stiles/Derek relationship continue to grow in Season 3
Stiles/Derek relationship continue to grow... that's not the same thing as Stiles+Derek relationship continue to grow. I'd contend the latter exists, and can therefore continue, but the formed is a thing that fans like and write stories about and an angle from which to interrogate the canon about and something to squee when canon throws you a bone, and to make art about and and and...as far as the actual / goes, it's not in the show.
Now, hey, season three might open with a slow pan up their naked legs entwined in bed. Congrats to the Sterek shippers if it does. But I don't that means a) it existed in S2, or b) it;s something to petition the writers for.
Why are we petitioning writers for ANYTHING? Seriously? Step away from the internet and ask that question...when did that become normal and acceptable? Yeah, sure, I've mentioned a couple, ah, costuming choices to a few writers or directors, but...I know I'm playing at bullshit. I honestly think it's rude to do seriously. Oh, if asked, I have lots of opinions, but that;s not the same thing.
I don't know... I think it's fair game to criticize what you think didn't work (i.e., Allison's lightning-fast attitude turnarounds and Jackson & Lydia suddenly becoming True Love rather than an opportunistic power couple for me) and let the creators know you'd like to see them do better. But making up stuff whole cloth and campaigning for the show to insert it just seems like a recipe for disaster.
If the writers are on Twitter, they may very well be reading tweets (not that all bother). So, yeah, tweet your opinions on the show, no need to hide. Even @ them, I guess. Linking them to your LJ or tumblr review? I think that's pushy as hell.
And campaigning for any non-canon ship or future plot point that the show isn't deliberately teasing? GROW UP.
I'm disappointed in Daunt, I can't lie. She came up in SPN. She should know better than this shit. Last week she was messaging me about looking for non-Sterek space, and now she's caving to people and saying it's fine to petition for the ship?
IT'S NOT ON THE SHOW. Seriously.
I guess I should be glad they're not in Supernatural where I'd go seriously batshit.
Thank god, the foofurrah seems to be calming down, and Daunt is on the side of calm. What is wrong with people? Yours | Not yours. Such is life. Get over it.
I had to stop the DVR over Kenzi's reading of "A blouse? You monster!!!1!" last night.
And Bo & Kenzi stopping the action to praise the wedding dress.
I wish TiVo/TV Guide would sort their shit out. That episode was first run to us. US. Whatever. I would like not to get SyFy's repeats, but also get the eps the first time they air them.
But that setting doesn't exist.
That episode was confusing. I get that the Haldra and the brain melting thing was not the explanation. But why did Ryan think it was the explanation? Whose secret is it? Also, didn't Kenzi come in saying one of her exes was stalking her? That didn't follow precisely the direction I was expecting.
And, lord, if I never see that sort of hamhanded "We'll talk about this later" delaying tactic again, it will be too soon. What are you actually planning to do with your next half hour or so? Sit and mull the upcoming apocalypse? You can't interrupt it with something that might be of immediate impact to your life?
I have to shrug and say "Magic?" to the form Bo's amnesia took, but it was all over the place for me, and not particularly satisfying. Or funny. I don't find that Anna Silk has a gift for comedy, whereas pretty much everyone else in the main cast (until you get to Zoie Palmer--her I have no idea about) does.
And I really trulio hate Ryan. I hope he's gone for good, at least out of Bo's bed, and whatever decision making was landing him there--she's a bad decision maker and she should feel bad.
The "I'm alone" growly wolf thing with Dyson--when is that going to run it's course? It's a bit...old now, thanks. I get it. His love was ripped out of him. What does this have to do with his ability to interview? I understand that this particular guy's schitck is to depress you into suicide but he's been wandering around wangsting before he met him.
Also, for all Teen Wolf plays hard and heavy with the pack requirement for their werewolves, doesn't seem to be much of a factor here, does it? Or is that part of the problem?
I felt compelled to rewind and see why the bleeding on him business might be significant. When she scratched his back she had a cut on her arm, so I guess her blood got into his bloodstream. I don't remember the deal with mom's thralls. I have a vague memory that when Ryan met Bo he said something about finally meeting a succubus, so presumably he wouldn't know much about them and their potentially thrall-making ways, so his looking for another explanation makes some sense. Why it's a big secret for Trick, no idea.
And why they aren't talking about Trick's big secrets - I give them bonus points for using "I'm not asking you about this yet" instead of " I'll tell you later", but still, so glaring and annoying.
The blouse line was very funny, and the bit about the wedding dress - it's not my style but I'm pulling it off, something like that - had some nice timing and delivery from both of them.
I think Dyson not having a pack is a big part of his angst, but he's been dealing with it since way back when he first went to the Norn and didn't give up his wolf. Now he can't even hope to make a pack of two and that's a straw too far? Maybe? I don't know. I enjoyed the actor playing Kenzi in Dyson's body so much, I really hope they can come up with something else for him to do than be mopy laconic wolf with no heart.
They did drop the street artist pretty abruptly. Did we even have his gran pointed out to us amongst the water fae's followers? Sloppy.
