I thought Abed was Batman now.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Mako is SO Batman. That wasn't even a little subtle.
I do wonder whether anyone has pointed out to the Equalists that, in all likelihood, the city is dependent on the benders for all the infrastructure they're using. Skyscrapers and cars and power-plants and water & waste-water, and hospitals and shipping, and all that--that's got to be benders making it work.
Notably better-trained benders than the ones who are working as muscle for protection rackets, but still: benders keep the water clean and the trains running on time. I can see how that might in itself create some resentment, but so far all of Amon's propaganda has been about physical oppression, rather than "benders get all the good jobs" or "all the most powerful politicians are benders".
Anyway, that was fun, and interesting. And the show's reluctance to let us see Amon's face makes me wonder if we're going to get, through him, another connection with the first series. Just wondering.
I mainlined Season 4 of Eureka to catch up to this season. I had forgotten what a gifted physical comedian Colin is!
Also, I'm not crazy about the whole Beverly thing. I think the series is better without her.
Mako is SO Batman.
He really is.
I've got a feeling that he's going to lose his bending, though. Because what do you do to Batman? Give him more angst.

Pshaw, you're just applying Capitalist-I-mean-Bender "logic" to oppress The People. Once we are all equal, then all will be peace, harmony, and fruitfulness.
through him, another connection with the first series.
I think this is likely. I'm really hoping that it's not to Zuko.
It probably isn't Zuko, but might it be his nephew? Sounds like something his sister's kid would do.
Quote from the AtLA finale:
To bend another's energy, your own spirit must be unbendable or you will be corrupted and destroyed. — Lion Turtle Island Dude.
Caught up on "Being Human".
Thanks for the reminder that I needed to do that. I do like the new characters, but I did not like this season's plot at all. I am not as mad at the UK show as I am at the US version, I think, but that is pretty damn faint praise.
No being mean to Mako!
Sounds like something his sister's kid would do.
See, I don't like the bad guy this series coming from the same family (or even, actually, the same Nation) as the bad guy from last time around.

Assuming that he's spirit-bending (can you spirit-bend without being a Bender?). He claims to be, but the chi-blockers certainly aren't.
No being mean to Mako!
I hate to say this, but Mako might as well have "woobie" written on his shirt in big letters. And narratives are notoriously mean to woobies.

Yeah, pretty much. I would however be surprised if we didn't get some non-bender allies, though: Sokka and Suki being as important as they were in ATLA, after all.
Hmm. We haven't seen Lin Beifong bend yet, have we? Wouldn't it be interesting if she weren't a bender? She could be in charge of the police because she's awesomesauce, not because she can bend metal.
