Finished Awake (thank you, Hulu!) and loved it. Then I got sad because it reminded a little of NBC's other show, Life.
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
right? I thought the same thing.
Oh, really? I liked Life so much. I've been debating watching Awake - I like the main actor but the premise is one I could either love or hate.
Yeah, why is Prince Charming such a weasel? That's what I want to know.
He was raised to be charming, not sincere. </Into the Woods>
-t, Life was quirkier with lots of humour, but its quiet meditative moments were one of the main thing that I loved about it, and Awake has it in spades. The promo is exactly the pilot episode, so if you liked that, at the least I think you'd like at least this ep. I have absolutely no idea where it will go from here. If nothing else, it's an interesting spin on procedurals.
I absolutely love the quiet somber hum of the whole ep, beginning to end.
And I loved the clever little trick they did with the colours, when Isaacs doesn't know where he is, and we the viewers are deprived of our visual cue of warm fleshtones versus the cool blues.
OUAT - it struck me - the writer, August - could this be a time warp kind of thing and he's actually Henry, grown up outside the town and come back to steer things the way they should go?
And does Regina keep her magical powers? if not, wouldn't she have screwed herself over by bringing everyone to a non-magical world? I know misery loves (often damends) company, but wouldn't that be going too far?

Awake was beautifully executed and I can kind of see the comparison to Life, but Awake doesn't have any of the whimsy. It may be the most depressing pilot I've ever seen. Very good, but very, very sad.

I'm 3-4 eps behind on this one, but seriously? Are the OUAT and Fringe writers drinking together?
It's not LIKELY - I was just considering possibilities.
That would be a little creepy, what with August and Emma's date.
I'm pretty sure Regina has magical powers. It looked like burning the letter caused Abigail to crash or disappear? Or maybe it just that existing spells work (have to for curse to function) so she can trigger clauses by crushing hearts, and burning letter. But if a curse can function in our world, I suspect new spells can be cast.
Did anyone but me think August was planting an altered version of the book?
