Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

It's possible there is a shapeshifter, but I think Blueverse Nina (who raised Olivia) was tied up and Redverse Nina has taken her place and has been the one working with Jones and drugging Olivia.

I've been thinking for a while that we were seeing the wrong Nina.

I would use the way they showed her hands as evidence, but they haven't always been great about covering Blair Brown's right hand in past seasons.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yep, I think that's what's going on too. This is the "first" time we've seen alt-Nina, right? Walter had to cross the bridge to see her. Weren't we wondering why we hadn't seen alt-Nina? When, in fact, we were seeing alt-Nina the whole time; it was Nina we weren't being shown.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

... I don't get it--why did Walter have to go see alt-Nina at all? Because that's where the cortexiphan is? Bell took it to the B universe when he crossed over?

In which case yeah, it's possible that the Nina who has been injecting Olivia is alt-Nina.

And here I was thinking that both Nina and Olivia had been swapped for shapeshifters, because the cut at the end to the two of them in the basement made it look like they'd both been there a long time.

I must admit I was rather hoping the Olivia we saw in the car with Peter was a shapeshifter because I rather liked that Olivia in this timeline, who had a nice partnership with Lincoln (and maybe a quietly blooming romance). I am not thrilled about her being subsumed back into the original-timeline Olivia--amber Olivia has just as much right to her own life, and I feel like it's been taken away from her.

The cut was weird, and, yeah, maybe there are shapeshifters, but why would a shapeshifter be getting Ourlivia's memories?

I am not thrilled about her being subsumed back into the original-timeline Olivia--amber Olivia has just as much right to her own life, and I feel like it's been taken away from her.

I agree.

I am not sure that I agree. This whole timeline was artificially created after Peter entered the machine. So it is a timeline that wasn't meant to be. Further, because there is bleed over, someone has been taking advantage of the original timeline to fuck up shit in amber. If amber were amber and didn't have bleed through, I might agree, but I think viewers are supposed to view amber as a situation that needs fixing.

I have to say I'm excited for next week. Fringe people have their own timeline for telling stories and I cannot believe a storyline started in the first season will pay off like 4 years later. WTF.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Thursday's Vampire Diaries was complete gibberish to me. To the degree that if they do it again, it won't keep filling the "crack" position it fills right now, because it makes me too angry and confused.

I'm not a fan fan, but i has been enjoyable enough. That wasn't.

I'm with le nubian.

And the next two episode titles are killing me.
