Anya: We should drop a piano on her. It always works for that creepy cartoon rabbit when he's running from that nice man with the speech impediment. Giles: Yes, or perhaps we could paint a convincing fake tunnel on the side of a mountain.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I sure didn't see the end of the Walking Dead episode coming.

The talk show afterwards was surprisingly fun. I suspect mostly because of Patton Oswalt.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Jasika Cole is all sorts of awesome. She's so beautiful, and, well, internally well-lit. I love her tumblr. It's the only celeb-run tumblr I follow.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Jasika

I hope this is a non-English variant spelling, rather than simply a creative one.

(And before anyone calls me a hypocrite, my daughter has a perfectly normal Sebacean name, thankyouverymuch. It's not her fault she wasn't born into a sci-fi universe.)

Ha, Jessica!

Is Jasika pronounced Jessica?

You're assuming her name isn't pronounced like it's spelt? That never occurred to me.

Yeah, the purists are not going to give you any slack on that.

Well, to me it looks like it would rhyme with "lass" or "jazz" in the first syllable, instead of "less." And the "i" could sound like a long "e." I've never heard it pronounced, but my first attempt at that would probably be Jazzicka. Does everyone else really see "Jessica" there?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I always assumed it was pronounced like it looks. Jas-i-ka. Like "classical" with a J and without an L.

I'm reading it phonetically and hearing my name. How is it supposed to be said?

When I read it phonetically, I get ja-sica, not je-sica. But in absence of actual information, I default to how it looks.

In my extensive two-minute research on the internet, which is never wrong, I found three whole random sources that tell me her name is pronounced Jah-SEE-ka, emphasis on the i as a long e sound.

In short, all of our guesses were wrong. She remains awesome, though. As do we.
