'War Stories'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I want Lee to meet up with his counterpart. They have both been awesome in very different ways.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I just rewatched "Neither Here Nor There" (because I can and because I still can't watch "One Night In October" grrr). So, the original recipe shape-shifters answered to Walternate, but were designed by Bell, right? I'm not entirely sure where that thought is taking me, but I do wonder if we'll find that Bell is alive and well in this timeline. I also wonder if we'll meet an alt-Nina.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hey, he killed off Merle too.

That's part of Tim's magic to me--I didn't like Merle until his very last episode, where Tim made him sympathetic and then slaughtered him.

So, did I get that right? I was kinda distracted during Sanctuary. Did Magnus pull a Harkness and is she living her life in parallel?

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Seems to be the implication. So as of next episode we're going to have a Helen Magnus with 284 years of badassery under her belt instead of 161.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Because I'm visiting mom and am DVR-less I missed the first few minutes of Sanctuary. Exactly how did Magnus get back to 18-whatever?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Matt,

right? I cannot even imagine being in seclusion for that long. Trying to stay out of people's way. I guess Magnus could probably travel pretty easily to any European country and to the US soon enough. She also probably could get to the Caribbean area before too long.

I would be fucked to be in the 1800s, but Magnus could get by with her ingenuity and some starting $$ from Watson.

She's a medical doctor who's seen her knowledge of modern medicine evolve over the entire span of time from the era she's returned to through the present day; I doubt she'd need seed money from Watson. As of 1888, she can probably perform surgery with far greater chances of success and full recovery than anyone else alive even using the available 19th century tools.

Finally got to see One Night In October! Now I want a poster like [link] but with a still of Walter listening to Mozart. I love the way they throw these references in.

So this Olivia killed her stepfather! Wow! I think even Fauxlivia thinks Olivia is pretty badass after that revelation. So the difference leading up to that was not meeting Peter in the tulip field, which means little Olivia didn't inadvertently clue Walternate in on the blueverse. I wonder how he figured it out.

Fauxlivia is back to her cocky old self with shirtless Frank at home. And Charlie married BugGirl! Ha!

The way they are handling the scenes with actors acting opposite themselves is impressive so far. It's not just a bunch of fixed camera or over shoulder shots. It still feels as active as the show usually does. I hope that's not killing their shooting schedule and that they can keep it up.

Matt,

my point was that she needed to get out of the country ASAP. so she'd need $$ to get some place out of people's way and then after that, she could likely maintain.

I doubt she'd want to use her medical knowledge though, she'd be altering time. She probably really would need to be in a relatively isolated environment.
