Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Did anyone else think the kids at the end were going to be Rose and Mickey and, I don't know, Sally Sparrow? Or that he was going to bring them all on a crazy adventure? You never know with this show.

I didn't imagine that about the kids, P-C, but now that you mention it, nothing every seems to be about nothing on this show.

Speaking of such, I'm still trying to figure out where I have heard the word "Petrichor' before. I'm terrible at anagrams, but the name of the Amy's perfume has to be significant in some way.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

It was in "The Doctor's Wife."

It was the word that elicited the feeling or smell or something to open... something. Wow, I have an awesome memory (which is to say, no, I don't, because I can't remember what they were trying to open!). It's the smell of freshly fallen rain on dirt, right?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I won't see the ep until I get home, but...

It's the smell of freshly fallen rain on dirt, right?

That has a name?!!

Riiight.

Check out your big brains!

I could only grasp that I'd heard the word somewhere before...not even that it was a Who word!

I'm always amazed at things like, in German, there is a specific word for when you arrive at your table in a restaurant and there is no ashtray.

English seems so unimaginative in comparison.

That has a name?!!

It does! Which, of course, I did not know until I watched the episode where they used it as a hint or whatever. But it is a cool word, and it does evoke a particular smell! I can only imagine that the perfume they called Petrichor is, er, supposed to smell earthy but not that exact smell. It's a great smell, but I don't want to smell like it.

I completely missed what Amy's perfume was called, so thanks for pointing it out!

Overall a disappointing episode, I thought, Stormageddon and Petrichor aside. Which is a shame as I really liked "The Lodger".
