'War Stories'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I agree with P-C's reaction to Doctor Who. Not sure if I like homicidal!Melody. And not sure if I buy Melody saving the Doctor at the end.

Anyway, have to rewatch.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Rory is so very my favorite.

I felt like Melody's characterization was all over the map. For as much as she spent her entire childhood with Amy and Rory, she didn't seem to actually have any feeling towards them, and then with the fairly abrupt change in this episode...Ok, I'm going to hand-wave with "regeneration personality shift".

Really, we're going forward with not assuming that everyone in the Universe knows who was in that space suit? Because I think they do.

There really must be something deeply bizarre going on with Amy and Rory's timeline if Mel regenerated as a toddler in New York (I just checked, it was "6 months later" at the end of Day of the Moon), and grew up with them. Either that, I suppose, or she stayed a kid for a decade or more before she met them.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

That...was weird.

the timey wimey stuff with River/Melody is making my head hurt. loved tonight's ep though.

i've decided my current mission in life is to make my mom love Doctor Who. i don't know why she's reluctant. she's loved every other thing i've made her watch. so. my question for all of you is, which episodes are a must to reel her in. new Who only, please!

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Tiggy, what kind of stuff does she tend to go for?

But Amy's timeline is all messed up still, isn't it? So we don't really know when she grew up.

I'm sad that if River gave up all her regenerations that probably means she really does die in the library.

The Eleventh Hour? I just love Amelia in that one.

I'm trying to reel someone in myself. I suggested she start with the first River episode: Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead.

Blink might be good if she likes timey-wimey mystery stuff.

she loves all kind of sci-fi stuff, Debet. so i really don't understand her reluctance!

she's intrigued by Blink(i've shown her youtube vids of the scary bits!) and she says she'll watch that ep. i need more good stuff after that to make her say she'll watch the whole thing.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Empty Child/Doctor Dances is a classic for a reason. Midnight has something of a similar feel, but it might not work if you don't know that character.
