Why couldn't you be dealing drugs like normal people?

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I didn't watch QL. Reading this discussion, I'm not the least bit sorry. But it has me pondering the difference between a quality retcon and an ass-pull. I know what it means to me, but I'm having a hard time remembering solid examples of ass-pulls that everyone would agree on. I, for one, would consider Wonder Woman's change from using the Invisible Airplane to being able to move about on air currents on her own as a bit of an ass-pull, but that may be because I really, really liked the Invisible Airplane.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

sj, it could have been. I don't know if they did it so he could have a child, or if they did it and then realized it meant he could. I'd have to sit down with an episode guide and think about it. Which maybe I'll do later, because now I want to know!

WS, I really liked QL and was happy to do a lot of hand-waving, but I doubt I would enjoy it as much now as I did then! It got a little heavy-handed with the morality plays, and the whole Sam-as-saviour deal. It started out as a fun sci-fi show and ended up taking itself (and Sam) way too seriously.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Zenkitty, when you do let me know.

QL was worth it just for the relationship between Sam and Dean Stockwell's character. I'll still never forgive it for the finale.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

WS,

everyone I knew when I was a kid watching Lynda Carter envied that invisible airplane. That was DOPE.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm convinced there will be no new season of Who. The previews make it look just too awesome to exist.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Stetsons! Why are my shows enabling a kink I only just learnt I had?
