Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

No kidding. That is seriously messed up.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Not that Aidan isn't already terribly fucked up, but finding out that he gave up on the kid too soon would pretty much destroy him.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I do think the writing was on the wall (no pun intended) about Bernie. He might not have killed anyone yet, but he was clearly shown to have little self-control or understanding of why he should employ it. It was only a matter of time before he started slaughtering people, probably starting with his mother. What Aidan did was still necessary.

Compassionately intolerant

I'm totally with Matt.

Not that being turned is ever really a good thing, but for such a young human with even less impulse control...it can never work.

The same story, in the UK version ended differently. Much as I really, really prefer that one, the US ending was better.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I like that the US version of Being Human isn't afraid to go dark. It's not like Spike killing the Chosen One for a comedy beat. I'll be interested to find out if Herrick tells Aiden the truth, and am even more fascinated that Herrick was operating on faulty intel--he thought it was Aiden that turned Ben (no, I don't remember his name), right?

V--schedule freed up and I watched the last two episodes. Holy game-changers, Batman. I don't know if it makes it good, but it certainly makes it a bit more interesting. However, I missed something--what happened to the Aussie guy?

Art Crawl!!!

He disappeared.

I hope we get to see what happens next on V.

Yes, the thing is that Aidan did the right thing no matter what he thought had happened.

Okay, so we're all similarly blank? I guess I didn't miss anything.

I don't know that I agree that Aidan did the right thing - kid was no worse, from what we saw, than chick Aidan killed that Bishop turned. Given Bishop's deviousness, I'm not sure now whether he thought Aidan turned the kid (yeah, I don't know his name, either) or just pretended to in order to amp up Aidan's feelings of responsibility. I wouldn't put it past him to have suggested the possibility to what's her name.

That was a more satisfying resolution to the storyline than the UK version, regardless.

I've grown to like the US version of Being Human in its own right, much to my surprise and totally against my understanding of How Things Should Be.
