Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Seriously, strung out on something. No. Other. Explanation.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

He is in the comics.

Oh, yes, I see that makes a big difference. I retract my statements questioning the relative sobriety of the writers. Snerk.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

My assumption is the episode's writer must have had Angel season 3 disks playing in the background while writing the thing. Did not need to see another fast-aged Miracle Baby named Connor form a jealous resentment of his super-powered father figure and get wooed to the dark side by an evil rival surrogate father.

I think the people who decide on what artist to feature for each year's Tolkien Calendar may have made a tactical error for 2011: [link] It hurts my head.

I really like it! But then, I'm not the market.

Art Crawl!!!

Yes, Connor being Lex + Clark is totally canon.

I'm not sure I am either, but I like it. Very interestingly minimal. It reminds of the style of some books I had as a kid, but I can't remember the details of who did them (they involved mice, I do remember that).

They were visually interesting - but trying to connect the images to actual scenes in the books was kinda brain-melty.

As opposed to the lysergic covers from the late 60s when they came out in paperback? That was my first exposure to LOTR and I've never quite lost the cognitive dissonance of those.

Here's a view of the three combined as one image: [link]
