My fondness for Josh Friedman is battling with my dislike for Nick Stahl. Which will win?!!

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I kinda like Nick Stahl. I do not like Joe Hill. A friend loaned me Heart-Shaped Box to read and: woof. After a couple of chapters I was skimming. After a couple more I flipped to the last third, on the premise that if peaking ahead made it seem more interesting, I would go back and read the rest of the thing.
So I returned it the next day.
He is probably a better stylist than his dad, but that's a low bar. It was a very Stephen King book, with individual scenes that were effectively creepy in a book that seemed to have more padding than a couple of sofas. And characterization that relied heavily on revelations about abusive parents because I guess that's still a surprising twist to someone in the world? Ugh.
I cannot spell names today for some reason.
Oh, that's disappointing about Joe Hill's books. I'm hoping a good show-runner can take the premise and develop the characters further independently. Not sure whether Friedman is going to be on board for the long-haul, but if he signs on as the show-runner, I'm going to give the show a chance just to see him do his thing. [/still not over TSCC being cancelled]
Every time I see Nick Stahl, I have to curb an urge to yell out, "YOUNG MAN, stand up straight! And go take a bath!"
Heh. So you watched Carnivàle, then?
(Ugh, I can't spell anything at all today. Time to go home...)
So you watched Carnivàle, then?
Yeap. It really took me out of the show to watch him make out with various women, 'cause I kept thinking how bad he must be smelling. I didn't have that problem with Jonsey, but y'know - it's Tim DeKay.
It makes me laugh to think of Friedman working with Nick Stahl given the Terminator connection, esp. via this vid: [link]

If he'd taken a bath on Carnivàle he'd have needed someone to rescue him from the resultant tub full of mud.
OMG Fringe! I anticipated the key plot points, but damn the revelation was intense. I did not anticipate finding a line Walternate won't cross. That was interesting.

I missed something -- what disease was the vaccine for?
I've been mainlining Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood on Hulu. This series is so much better than the first one! Much better use of the core characters, but I think they have introduced so many that it will be a heck of a resolution! I'm about at Episode 36, I think.
