Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Art Crawl!!!

Man, if they'd only aired things closer together. These five episodes were a total adrenaline rush.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

David Tennant is marrying Peter Davison's daughter who played his daughter

So, who will give her away at the altar?

Also, Christmas Special: non-Christian here, so I only got a strong sense of Moby Dick meets Peter Pan. I'm only vaguely aware of the Christmas carol story.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Shir, it was seen in the US the same night, so it's okay to blackfont.

  • ****Caution! Spoilers for "A Christmas Carol"******

"A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens in a nutshell:

- Miserly old grump of a man makes his life and employees and relatives lives miserable.

- He gets visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve. One for the past, one for the present and one for the future.

- They show us and him when he was a nicer person, how he was affecting everyone around him, and his dismal future and death.

- He is transformed by the experience and wakes up to find only the night has passed.

- He shocks relatives and employees by a complete turnaround and no one checks for an aneurysm.

The end.

brillig

no one checks for an aneurysm.

Snerk!

You're right, logically Scrooge should be in a hospital being checked for depression or a brain injury.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Oh, thanks! I knew the basics, but some things were new to me.

Alternatively: Abused child grows up, is told it's his own fault that he's unlovable, and finally is convinced that he should bribe people into liking him.

Even shorter summary: "Money can't buy happiness! -- Oh wait, it totally can!"

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Radio 4's 'Thinking Allowed' sociology programme today was about Doctor Who. Interesting stuff. Podcast can be downloaded here. I can't work out whether it's internationally available, but some of the BBC podcasts are, so it's worth a try.

It is - it's one I subscribe to. I'm so addicted to podcasts now that I finally have me a device. I listen to all kinds of shit... way more than I listen to music, which I wouldn't have guessed.

Me, too, JenP. I'm hooked on RadioLab, Stuff You Should Know, Stuff You Missed in History Class, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, On the Media... and a Narnia fanfiction podcast I found on a Narnia forum. Which is goofy fun.

Also, a friend in the UK sent me a tiny 2GB drive loaded with audiobooks and BBC radio material, and I'm having a blast listening to all that.
