Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

And Bear McCreary blogs about the music in 4.1.
Did you catch that he incorporated snatches of it into the score during the scene with the four of them discussing the Raider's retreat?
Did he? I didn't catch that. Neat! Must rewatch for that bit when I get home. I like the way Bear incorporates all kinds of different influences into his score. Although my favourite is still the Passacaglia used in the teaser of "Kobol's Last Gleaming, part I" (and the variation on that during the opera house scene in part 2.)
Because I was in the middle of "OMG I'm never taking you seriously again!" flounce-off after the last season finale, I never bothered learning which version of "All Along the Watchtower" he used. Was is specifically recorded for the episode, or did he use a pre-existing version?
He recorded it for the show. (His brother is on vocals.)
I'm all kinds of amused that while Vonnie's saying all kinds of smrt about Passacaglie and suchlike, I'm looking at this

and thinking "hehhehheh, that's just like more cowbell. But with culture."
Sitar! That's IT. I was trying to peg down the exotic-sounding string instrument he used in Tigh-Shoots-Adama scene but my mind was drawing a blank.
Thanks for the link to Bear's blog, sumi. Very interesting.

That's the thing!

Yeah, "Passacaglia"/"The Shape of Things to Come" is like my Bear McCreary OTP.
Was is specifically recorded for the episode, or did he use a pre-existing version?
It's a new version recorded by his brother under the name Bt4. I've had no luck finding a download of it, though.
It's on the season 3 soundtrack cd.
the disconcerting (and vaguely Middle-Eastern-sounding, which is an interesting choice) dark string theme played when Tigh was hallucinating his assassination of Adama
The sitar music is pretty much the Final Four theme music - it was playing in the lead-in to AATW at the end of last season too.
Baltar's fandom adventures are likely to entertain me no matter what. But I don't think there's anything out of character in him being more than a bit tired of watching other people dying for/because of him. That's been going on for a while.
Which reminds me, I still think Helo should mention his own role in Baltar's fortunes at some point. (Er, unless that happened in one of the S3 episodes I missed?)
