Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

ha! yes, I'm planning to watch the show, but seeing as I've watched shitty SyFy movies in the past, I'm not sure what that says about me.

I am going in with dead low expectations though.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I generally wait for other Buffistas to form opinions for me. It keeps me from wasting time watching shows that might suck.

Ugh! Farscape season two is on TEN DISCS. I might have to upgrade my Netflix to two-discs-at-a-time so I can get it done in a reasonable amount of time. What in the world could POSSIBLY be justification for only putting two episodes on a disc?

And, according to Netflix, one disc is episodes 18 & 22 and another is 19 through 21. WHY WOULD THIS BE?

I am annoyed.

I just checked amazon.com and it tells me that Farscape season two is on six discs. Which is, you know, reasonable. But why would there be two different sets of the same season? Weird weird weird.

Beware of watching by production numbers. The three-parter "Look at the Princess" has out-of-order production numbers because they were written/broken later. Do not watch season 2 in production-number order!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

19-21 is a three-parter. I think the way they fixed that for the complete series boxed set was to make one disc 18 + bonus featurettes, and then 19-22 together on the last one.

Hmm. Weird. I'm assuming that the order they come in on the DVDs is the order they are supposed to be watched, in, though. Yes? I'm just confused now.

I suppose I shouldn't worry about it yet, I haven't even finished season one yet (I've seen through 1x20, so I have one more disc coming) - but I'm really getting into it so I want to jump straight into season two!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Apparently because Coupling sucked and SyFy cancelled Caprica, Being Human is going to be awful

I think a drama with occasional black humor has a lot better chance to be translated to American sensibilities successfully than a sitcom did. Though ideally they might have waited until after the British original wrapped production and stopped airing new episodes on a rival US channel.

Farscape went through a couple of different iterations of releases. The first set of releases were really funky, not necessarily in the good way. For example, the season one discs you couldn't select a specific episode. You had to fast forward through the first episode on the disc to get to the second. They also had some strange ordering of episodes, as 'Suela notes.

I promise I do actually do things in my life like go to work and hang out with friends and family, but from the amount of TV I watched this weekend you'd probably never guess. I'll be finishing Farscape season one today, as soon as the mail comes, basically. I'm excited.

And in the past few days I finished season one of Torchwood and started season three of Doctor Who. As far as the second half the season goes, I really enjoyed "Random Shoes", "Captain Jack Harkness" and "End of Days". I was so excited when I heard the TARDIS pop in and take Jack at the end of the episode, and so I'm looking forward to seeing how that plays out on Doctor Who.

Speaking of Doctor Who, I really loved "The Runaway Bride" (Donna was hilarious and I'm glad that she will be in future episodes) and then, I like Martha much more than I thought I would. I nearly fell off my couch laughing when she used "EXPELLIARMUS!" to save the day in "The Shakespeare Code". That episode was fantastic and made my inner theater geek so unbelievably happy.
