Inara: So, explain to me again why Zoe wasn't in the dress? Mal: Tactics, woman. Needed her in the back. 'Sides, those soft cotton dresses feel kinda nice. It's the whole... air-flow.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

To be fair, Rygel was useful to the writers

Ah, see, I hate that. Meta reasons for someone to be around that I don't think are supported in universe--sits badly with me. Spike was more useful than Rygel.

Okay, that's stretching things. But he really shattered my suspension of disbelief.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

But he really shattered my suspension of disbelief.

I can see that. Whereas Baltar shattered mine, and yet there are plenty of people who really enjoyed the character.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I hated the whole concept* of imaginary (or whatever) Six more than I hated Baltar.

  • Although I realize that she had a narrative purpose.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

She was, like, my other favorite character!

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

I do not get the appeal.

MOAR FOR ME!!

What episodes were they?

they're replaying all of this season's eps in order. so last night was 2x01 and 2x02. i'm really still miffed that Mason is gone from my tv screen.

Baltar was, like, my favorite character!

there's something wrong with you.

of course, i really started to just watch BSG out of OCD (obsessive completion disorder). i didn't love it nearly as much after the first season or two.

Nor did I.

I watch it, and I don't get the appeal. It fills a slot for me, kills time, and gives me something to IM with Perkins about. But I'd never recommend it to anyone as anything other than a quick way to spend an hour. The time flies.

BSG is a much more cheery show if you find him as hilarious as I do.

High five!

To the surprise of nobody, Rygel didn't bother me. I don't really care if I like the characters as people. Which is lucky, since I rarely do.

And, well, if I do like a character it's probably because they're screwed up in ways I can relate to.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Rygel made me laugh and laugh. I liked having him around as a (mostly) comic foil, and two of my favourite bits in all of FS runs involved Rygel: Rygel in bondage gear in Won't Get Fooled Again, and the MPREG in the miniseries, which made me laugh until I cried.

If someone made a good Rygel plush toy, I'd totally buy one.

I don't have to like the character as a person. I have to feel there's an in universe reason for him to be part of the show. And I didn't.
