A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
no one else copped to being hooked on the crack that was (is?) The Tribe. So, I'm here to admit to a (mostly former) ridiculous fondness for the show and stand in solidarity with...zuisa was it?
YES!! Oh my. Let us stand together in solidarity. I haven't seen it for years, but when it was airing on some obscure cable channel we happened to get, I was ALL ABOUT IT. My brother and I were totally hooked. I still have a few livejournal icons of it, and is always makes me happy whenever someone knows what it is.
Someone told me the actor who played Bray is on Legend of the Seeker, and I almost looked into that just for that reason.
So. Favorite characters? Plotlines? I really loved the whole crazy religious cult of the Chosen, but then the Technos were really freaking awesome. Or maybe I just thought Jay and Mega were attractive.
That io9 guide to getting into Scifi shows recommended starting with
Torchwood
season 3, saying the first two weren't very good and the third is much much better or something....
WELL, that's certainly a vote against then a vote for Torchwood. Over the top doesn't bother me. So... I'll definitely let you guys know how I like it!!
Okay, so I checked, and I'm still not rational on the subject of Torchwood. (But io9 is wrong.)
Oh, lemme look that up in my reference table. Yeah, also not rational on Torchwood. IANTO!
That none of the characters are likable, the episodes aren't interesting, and it's needlessly "edgy"?
I have to agree with P-C here. I tried to love Torchwood in so many ways, but I ended up watching it because you all watched it, not because I was in love with the characters or the stories.
I actively despised the mini-series and could not fathom the acclaim.
Speaking of Farscape, yay Zuisa! It only gets better from here!
I hate to throw a spanner here, but it does until season 4. There's some great stuff there too, but the show goes off the rails a bit.
The mini-series after made up for most of that, though, so it is DEFINITELY worth perusing until the very end.
S4 wasn't entirely their fault. (I say, fully acknowledging that in my own rewatch I pretty much skipped all of disc 1...)
I haven't seen it for years, but when it was airing on some obscure cable channel we happened to get, I was ALL ABOUT IT.
Seriously, it really was the most cracktastic stuff. Ridiculous, yet somehow compelling.
Someone told me the actor who played Bray is on Legend of the Seeker, and I almost looked into that just for that reason.
I...hadn't heard that...and may have to have the same reaction for the same reason.
So. Favorite characters? Plotlines? I really loved the whole crazy religious cult of the Chosen, but then the Technos were really freaking awesome.
It's been a while so it all runs together. Lessee, off the top of my head...one of my faves was Jack (I'm always a fan of the geeky boys), I loved Bray (most of the time), I had a real fondness for Pride, really liked May (once reformed), and really liked May & Pride together - and really appreciated the complexity of their relationship. I quite liked Ryan (after they stopped writing him as stupid) because I'm also fond of the big teddy bear types, and I enjoyed his & Salene's relationship. The Technos were an interesting group, and what a power-base in a post-apocalyptic world, but their leader...blanking on the name...written and/or acted so OOT, really bugged.
Or maybe I just thought Jay and Mega were attractive.
It is just possible that I
might,
maybe perhaps still have a password that I use relatively regularly invoking the Jay character. Maybe.
And just noticed the time...got an appt in 20 minutes, so apparently that's all I have to say.
S4 wasn't entirely their fault
Yeah, I have definite issues with Farscape S4. I'm still cranky about a lot of what happened there. Although those issues mostly had to do with arcs, both character and plot-based, rather than the writing/acting/directing of any individual episode. And they were under a lot of network pressure, and they'd lost a bunch of writers, and DK wouldn't let that one plot point go but nobody else knew what to deal with it, and apparently things were kind of a mess.
But I still hate the stupid episode with John in the box. I try to pretend that one doesn't exist.
