I don't know, though. I'd think an actual writers bullpen would work more cohesively than hiring freelancers on a per-script basis, even if he's going to heavily revise each script himself.
Also, very strange to respond to having an unexpected huge hit by making such a sweeping change to its formative process.
If this means that the dialogue gets better, I'm all for it!
I'm with Matt. I find his actions puzzling. Think about all the great tv shows of the past 20 years. Didn't they all have a stable group of writers, not a lone wolf?
The only show I can recall that had a lone wolf writer and some other writers here and there for 80-90% of its run was "The Tudors" and well, that was not. good.

He was pretty burned out by season 5, to put it mildly.
I have not been able to get through a full episode of B5.
One of the best sci-fi shows of all time. With really quite appalling dialogue.
Much to my own surprise, I stuck it out with Caprica...in a form where I could ff freely. I have to say that the finale was pretty darned satisfying with the loose ends tying-pitching 'forward' into the BSG storylines.
Not that I need 'tidy' per se, but it was much better than the BSG finale in that it made marginal sense.
I'm actually glad that the series wasn't renewed. I'm not sure how much farther they could have gone with the available world.
So yeah. RIP Caprica.
But if he's enjoyed success to date without needing the stability of a constant bullpen of writers, why not gamble that it will be the same next year?
