Are you all telling me that Vampire Diaries is actually a good show? My world is askew.
It really is, honestly. It's a little campy from time to time, but I legitimately enjoy it. Everyone on it is ridiculously attractive and none of the acting is bad. Plus Damon just rocks.
I have lots more thoughts but someone just came to the door!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
The characterisation is random, actions don't have ramifications, and the amount of casual mind-rape and strange racial stuff boggles my mind.
Which I always have to say.
However, it's fun, fast-paced, and racks up a huge body-count.

Someday, there may be a witch on TVD that isn't black or isn't somehow related to Bonnie. I, myself, am uncertain that Gina Torres' character wasn't actually some distant cousin of Bonnie's.

As soon as I saw him sitting in her room I knew it was going to be an emotional scene for me.
same. i was actually really annoyed that she didn't go hug him after she hugged Stefan when they saved her. i might've even yelled at my tv.
never speak of the other Salvatore brother again. Hah. I kid, sort of.
i'm not a fan of Stefan/Elena. they are a giant yawn fest for me. i think Elena's a lot more fun with Damon and Stefan is a lot more fun with Katherine. i'd enjoy it immensely if that's how things worked out on the show.
Also, your tagline is one of my favorite scenes from the show.

I was you until i saw the Founder's Day ep(which is the season one finale). my mom always had it on and i mocked it and her for watching. then i watched that ep and fell in love with Damon and subsequently really enjoyed other characters. they definitely never stall things out like a lot of shows like to do. something big happens in pretty much every ep.
plus? Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have chemistry through the roof. it's enough to keep me watching.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange
I started watching TVD as a guilty pleasure while i was laid up with a broken foot and enjoying vicodin like whoa. Also read all the books (which started out embarrasing and finished with me wanting to actually burn a book, and i am heavily against book burning). But the show? Continues to please. It's total brain/eye candy, but impressively well done for a prime time soap opera featuring supernatural elements. Plus all those iliac crests and not so horrible covers of songs i love. Yes, please.
