'Just Rewards (2)'
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I've caught up. Sort of OK. The evil scientist group has a half a point with vampires. The mad homeless vampire woman kills two girls at the mall and she gets a hard slap? It seems like all the vampires are serial killers, no exceptions. If mean it is one thing to attend an AA meeting and say: "I drank a bottle of scotch last night but not I've got 12 hours back."
"I killed two girls last night but now I've got 12 hours back" does not have the same ring. Not that the Scientists aren't evil treacherous religious fanatics. But so far there has not been one case of a vampire we've seen who has avoided killing indefinitely. (Maybe the boy Mitchell turned, but I'm guessing he eventually kills his Mother.)
And Annie is written way to broadly. A lot of her bits are straight out bad sit-com material. I think she is acted well, but character is written to swing from tragic victim to over-eager social klutz to broad farce in way that is both irritating and unbelievable.
I'm still watching. I guess I'm not enthralled, but I'm interested. I like George getting ragey rather than whiny, though I don't care for his insta-family gambit. It's just dumb, but not out of character. I don't care about the vampires as a whole, but I want to find out what happens to Mitchell personally. I don't mind Annie so much, but I'm not clear on what the point of her is. The ghost community she's sort of got now has potential - I really liked the guy who taught her how to close doors. The business with the doctor and the religious guy, I don't know, I'm reserving judgment for now.
I hope we get more Mitchell flashbacks - they are fun.
Surprise! Caprica Returning Sooner Than Planned
The highly anticipated return of Syfy’s critically-acclaimed series Caprica will come even sooner than anticipated. The second half of season one will now premiere on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 10:00PM ET/PT, the channel announced today. Fans will no longer have to wait until January to watch the series exciting kick-off, as the citizens of Caprica deal with the chaotic aftermath of the mid-season finale’s harrowing events.
Excellent!!!
Ooh, maybe we'll get dvds in September.
Hooray!
Weird. They were supposed to know by mid-august if they were doing a season two, but they've put off that decision.
They've extended the actors' contracts through November, I think, so they don't need to decide until then.
Huh. So then they'll have ratings for the first episodes of season 1.5 before they have to make the decision on season 2. Maybe that is their plan (and we all know how Cylons like plans).
