A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Did anyone else watch Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss's "Sherlock" on BBC1 last night? It was extremely Who-ish. Intelligent yet socially awkward genius with loyal, more human companion, fighting the forces of evil. And so on. I quite enjoyed it, though.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

I was a bit perturbed at the idea of a 21st-century Holmes. Since it was Moffat, though, I might give it a go. (Was he at least an addict of some kind?)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Trailer for "Red", the SciFi original movie w/ Felicia Day:

They used music from Quake 2 ! Aw.

Yes! I really enjoyed it; it was very clever but managed to keep a real hold of the characters at the same time.

That said it seems like cabbies are the go-to serial killer for BBC dramas lately.

Jars, I hadn't seen any others, so that didn't bother me, but I guessed it was the cabbie waaaay before Sherlock did .

(Was he at least an addict of some kind?)

Seska, it was heavily implied that there might be some cocaine around somewhere, but other than that just nicotine patches .

I'm not a Holmes fan in any way, but I thought the updating worked brilliantly. They even overdid it a bit, what with the websites and mobiles and GPS and stuff. Apparently, though, they didn't even have to change that Watson has just been demobbed from Afghanistan; they took that directly from the original. Which is simultaneously cool and very, very depressing .

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oh damn. I didn't realize Sherlock was Moffat's. Well, something to look for, right?

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Holmes' first words to Watson were

"You have been in Afghanistan, I perceive."

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I loved the new Sherlock. Not enough Rupert Graves for my taste, but hopefully there will be more of him in the next two episodes. But in general, really fun.

Our wings are not tired.

Hi there Boxed Set! I have missed you so. After a Doctor Who marathon this past week I am up to date. I skimmed the last 1200 posts and loved reading the comments and conjecture with the whole season fresh in mind.

And now Eureka! Loving the everything is new again. So many possible directions the show can go from here. Pure joy!

Sherlock will have to happen later.

DW: 9 is still my Doctor. I was not at all surprised that I took to 11 quickly. I thought he would make an excellent Doctor and hope he has an opportunity to grow in the role for years to come.

Great wacky energy. It worked so well with the popping back and forth to set stuff up right with the mailbox and sticky note, etc. There was much to love with the finale but mostly I am a total sucker for a happy ending. I liked Amy more too. Rory, totally world's best boyfriend/husband.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Is the new Sherlock sci fi? What's the premise?
