What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I like when that works out.

“Not dead yet!”

I don't care about Bryce and Keiko anymore; now I want him to hook up with whatsername.

Nicole.

And I liked the chemistry that Keiko had with the car dude.

I think maybe they dropped the Gina Torres storyline because the series is probably going to be canceled. Which makes me sad. I mean, shows of this nature, in particular, take time to build up steam. Didn't X-Files have terrible ratings its first season?

Nicole.

I knew her name for a spell there, and she wasn't in a few episodes, so I forgot.

Compassionately intolerant

Who UK:

I hate to say that this episode was the first to leave me totally meh. The previews left me psyched to see a vampire storyline, though I did wonder how that could be in the Whoniverse. Unlike every other episode, there were no adorable Doc/Amy moments, not enough callbacks/tie-ins to the crack theme and I wasn't remotely engaged with the baddies.

Nobody bats 1000, I suppose. Perhaps I should rewatch.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

So, River Song and Weeping Angels and it must have been my mood because I was kinda meh on the whole thing. Even with River's snarky comments on how the Tardis SHOULD work.

OTOH, I caught up on V and it's getting a little more interesting. The son is still an albatross, but Anna's daughter has potential with her divided loyalties. Pity it seems to be the albatross that she's interested in though.

DW Episode 6: I have to say I disagree with bonny, I really enjoyed this one. Loved the Doctor-Amy-Rory interaction. My one complaint was that Rory's great speech about what the Doctor does to his companions was much too broad for Rory's knowledge - "this is what you do to them" when it should have been "look what you've done to her". But he was supposed to be speaking generally so I forgive them .

Next week looks like it could be a cracker. So to speak.

Edit: bonny, how do you get that there were not enough references to the Crack theme? The MotW only arrived because of the Crack, and Mummy spent ages talking to the Doctor about that. The whole thing with the silence at the end. I thought it was plenty .

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

New UK Who: I agree with bonny that this one was uninspiring. I didn't like the story, or the Doctor/Amy interactions, or the silly CGI fish, or the attempts to represent vampires as aliens (they really overdid it with the explanation of why they can't be seen in the mirror etc). It reminded me of the witches/Shakespeare episode, in that it was a complete filler episode. I don't mind, because there are always filler eps - but I'm more worried that the kid who plays Rory seriously can't act. He ruined the final line, which should have been chilling. Let's hope he grows on me, like Mickey did. Fungus-style.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Didn't X-Files have terrible ratings its first season?

yes, as did many shows that turned out to be long running, like Seinfeld and Cheers.
