Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Finally watched Torchwood 2.09.

When they retcon, do they create false memories?

I thought that's what Ianto was referring to when he said he was the "wedding fairy", that he was going to start dispensing false memories to all the sleeping guests.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Yeah, I got that impression too. Do a little "Men in Black" action.

"And get a decorator up in here, 'cause...damn!"

Ann, that's a ferret.

all questions of how much gay we show aside, Rhys is now my fucking hero.

I still don't think he's temperamentally set up to be married to someone in law enforcement. On the other hand, deferring to Gwen's wish to go on with the wedding even when she showed up pregnant gives him a lot of credit.

And really, any civilian who picks up a chainsaw to defend you against an alien when he barely understands what's going on -- instead of, say, running away or blubbering in fear -- he's a keeper.

This. Exactly this.

I have a sneaking suspicion that RTD holds to Joss' philosophy of happy relationships (that they are fleeting and end tragically, that is). Which is why I worry like hell about Rhys during episodes like this.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

They had their chance to kill Rhys for good last season, and they decided to keep the character around. Hopefully that's a permanent decision.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I think Rhys is a bit to RTD what Xander was to Joss. His everyman avatar for the show. I'm guessing that means we'll get to see Rhys have his eye poked out by a Weevil or something.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Unless he's Tara. In which case, ramp up the viewer love, then kill him permanently.

Art Crawl!!!

Had an odd thought about BSG season 4: with Kat dead, Lee having (apparently) quit being a pilot and Starbuck also dead(ish) - who the heck is the CAG? Hotdog??

Okay - onto Jericho. I so need more. So sad now.

And during that first commercial break when they had that airforce ad? My first thought when they showed the Pentagon was, "Damn, Cheyenne built it's own Pentagon," and then it revealed that it was an airforce ad.

Our wings are not tired.

It is my fault that Jericho is dead. They had a marathon thing that I taped because I had never watched the show and discussion here convinced me to give it a shot. I watched a few episodes and now the show is dead. I should have held off a bit longer.

I just got done rewatching BSG Season 1 and the first disc of Season 2. While watching S1, I had forgotten about Crashdown's fate, until I saw the episode index for the S2 disc and saw the ep title "Fragged," and then I was sad. Poor incompetent leader Crashdown.

But, Hotdog's ability to fly that Viper is a vast improvement over his nugget days. He might make a decent CAG--who knows?
