Ha- I didn't want to be the one to say it, but this Doctor, while fine and Doctor-ish and all, is not sexy.
I actually had a post get eaten on Sunday where I basically said that yeah, I can accept him as the Doctor and he did well in the role, but he's just a bit too goofy for me. And I sort of miss the maudlin.

Hasn't Chuck ever heard of shooting someone to disarm and disable them? You don't HAVE to shoot to kill, you know; you can shoot someone in the legs for instance!
To back ita up a bit here, the reason why you don't shoot to wound or disable? Or why you don't "shoot the tires" and other TV/movie tropes? Because it doesn't really work. Probably the most believable treatment of this is the "Firefly" gag, which was repeated on "Castle": where Nathan Fillion gets complimented for shooting the villain in the arm and replies, "I was shooting for the head!"

Me, too. Everywhere else I go on the internet I keep seeing comments like "Thank God Ten and all his angst are gone" but I really loved his highs and lows. I still miss him actually, but I'm hoping that will change as the season goes on.
About the new Doctor he's definitely not sexy, but there is an appealing gentleness to him. The only issue I have is he doesn't quite sell the crazy stuff yet. They could throw David Tennant the weirdest, silliest things (pig men, CGI Satan, etc.) and he would really make me believe that it actually existed and was a threat. I don't quite have that yet from Matt Smith.

I still miss Eccleston's particular take on the angst, the way he was razor edged and desperate for happiness the whole time. But I still grew to love Tennant and find him pretty sexy quite quickly.
Smith could do it, but the opening goofball sequence means it's going to take longer--but he sure picked up at the end. The Doctor needs edge. Doesn't have to be Time War angst, but through all his incarnations he's defeating major enemies. I think Moffat and Smith did manage to display that capability before the end of the episode, and that's why I'm not mad at them.

I have rewatched his season the least because Rose just grates on me so much. But I did love that about Nine. Maybe I'll have to rewatch after all.
