New Doctor:
Ohh, Doctor. It's not Tennant, but he's one hell of a freakish cool alien, so I'll give him 7 in Tennant's scale (that scale, with the right Tennantness, can go up as 15 at times. Just so you'll know).
Something's changed about the shooting, I think. It's less realistic: it feels like I'm supposed to be watching a fairy tale. "Fables" version of fairy tale, but a fairy tale nonetheless. I also love Amy, and the fact that she told everyone about the Doctor (though again, it kinda raises the hero worshiping I dislike about the Doctor to begin with. I'd like to attribute it more to her than to him). I loved the changing clothes scene, and his confidence (in general). Rose gave him that, I think, and it's lovely to see him like that again.
All in all: it's a a different Doctor, alright. But I think we'll become fast friends. If I'll just stop rolling my eyes every time he says Geronimo, that is.
Hey all! Also, New Doctor: I am finding Matt Smith super hot. Also Amy. But it will be exceptionally weird if they push a romance angle. Exceptionally. I like the new Tardis, and that they've gone for a whole new style of camera direction etcetra. I think you can really tell that there's a new head writer on board, there was definitely a different tone. The video clips of the previous doctors was sweet too.
To sum up, I'm very looking forward to more.
I read somewhere that they're going to have a fairy story-gone bad sort of a tone this new incarnation of the Doctor.
New Who.
I'm not even 15 minutes in and I'm head over heels. That was unexpected.
I definitely see what everyone is talking about in terms of the new look.
ita, I definitely get the fairy story gone bad vibe. LOVE IT.
I take it that Patrick Moore is something of a British institution? I had no idea who he was and had to look him up in Wikipedia.
I loved how everyone recognized the Doctor from Amy's drawings and I'm glad they showed us those dolls at the end. So cute!
Doctor Who:
It took about five minutes, and then Matt Smith became transparent in the role for me. Loved it! It's just so damn fun.
DW: The teaser was very silly, and I was a little worried, and then the Doctor was kind of ass-y about food, and I was worried, but then Karen Gillan's legs were awesome. So there was that.
I was very amused by the whole setup with Amy, and it could be fun if she retains some of that bitterness. I liked the Doctor's big power moments, too, which helped Matt Smith win me over.
DW: I really didn't like the slapstick at the beginning, nor the start of the new theme. But I think it picked up well, and he was kinda badass at the end. But charmingly excitable.
Aldo, in Doctor and brides: what's up with that? She's the second after Donna, and my mind is going all Jung about it, and it's never fun in this level of analysis.
And I think that the core of the Tennant-Eccleston era (haven't watched earlier Doctors) was fairy tale gone bad - just by the character of the Doctor himself. With Smith and Moffat on board, it'll be a strictly horror fairy tale, I think.
