you could assume that there was a prehistoric crocodile and prehistoric sharks, so maybe there could have been dinocrocs and dinosharks. But there never was... a half-shark, half-octopus doesn't exist. So I had to come up with some way to justify this

We are so having a drunk watch-n-post when Sharktopus airs....
Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus was such a disappointment. I bailed on the watch & post after about 15 minutes. The movie was so incompetently made it was too unwatchable to be mockable.
