Ahhh, thanks Frank.
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Here is an interview with Brian Henson (of Farscape ).
Fox readying U.S. version of 'Torchwood'.
The project is from BBC Worldwide Prods., with original series creator Russell Davies writing the script.
Also, some of the current cast — most likely John Barrowman, who plays the immortal Capt. Jack Harkness — might star if Fox orders "Torchwood" to pilot.
Really?
how is this going to work? What a weird choice. I wonder how the stories will flow with the BBC version.
Maybe the closer we get to it the more info we will get.
What happens to UK Torchwood, then?
What an unnecessary idea. Especially purloining the original actors. I wish it nothing but fail. And the idea of remaking Doctor Who for the US? Oy.
There was also this:
Tranter might try to reboot “Doctor Who” for U.S.
This makes me nervous for US-ian availability of the originals. I hope part of the deal is the ability to air the original series' if either goes forward.
I wonder how the stories will flow with the BBC version.
I'm also a little worried it might be in place of the BBC version, since the original production team is involved.
I was just trying to figure out if they were conflating the two shows, or if they actually mean that someone's considering a US version of Doctor Who in addition to Torchwood. Because if it's the latter, way to bury the lede. And brace for armageekdon.
And the idea of remaking Doctor Who for the US? Oy.
Oh yeah. DW is totally British! Things like State of Play and Life on Mars, okay, I can at least see the appeal in the inherent story possibilities. But DW is so...British to its core. I wouldn't want to see it Americanized.
People do keep saying great things about CoE, and they do say you don't need to watch the rest of the series to enjoy it, but still, I wouldn't want to jump in like that. Maybe one of these days.
And brace for armageekdon.
No shit.
The sentence
Tranter might try to reboot “Doctor Who” for U.S. audiences while departing “Doctor Who” star David Tennant stars in NBC’s pilot “Rex Is Not Your Lawyer.”
is a damned weird one. I know that RTD is off Who, but trusting Tranter with the Who franchise in a whole new country? Who is she in the Whoniverse again?
