Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Helen Mirren plays the role.

I'd watch that.

I loved the parody of Doctor Who with Rowan Atkinson playing the Doctor, along with Hugh Grant, Richard E. Grant, Jim Broadbent, and Joanna Lumley, who was hilarious as the female Doctor.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Joanna Lumley

Jojo Lumlums!

I just like saying that.

I remember watching her in "The New Avengers" on Saturday nights back in the late '70s.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Just when I was really zoning out on Sanctuary...dance number? WTFOMGBOLLYWOOD?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

ita, I completely agree. I was lulled into a sense of calm understanding about the plot of Sanctuary and completely out of nowhere, here comes Bollywood! I shrieked.

Interesting cliffhanger. Clear bad Sanctuary head will have his comeuppance soon.

Compassionately intolerant

Clear bad Sanctuary head will have his comeuppance soon.

I'm a little distracted by him being the doctor from Atlantis, but yeah, clearly he's going to be eaten by the big bad.

I liked the depiction of Kali as morally neutral to her own behavior. Interesting, given the either sympathetic or negative view of the 'entities.'

I loved the bebe. Her resolve (and delivery) were delightful.

The smaller baddie was one of my favorite parts of Dead Like Me and, I swear, doesn't look a day older.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'm not sure I buy all the heads of Sanctuary houses jumping on the bandwagon of the brand new obviously full-of-himself NYC head as the one to call the shots. Perhaps he was as immediately annoying to all of them as to the audience, and they're genre-aware enough to realize he'll soon become giant spider chow as part of the process proving Magnus Was Right All Along?

The Mumbai director can stick around a while as far as I'm concerned though.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I can't believe they gave us two hours...and then a to be continued. That's a really long story. And they already lost me with the precise connection between the abnormal and the Hindu god.

I hope Magnus is back to head of the organisation soon, and we don't have to deal with her political machinations to get back spanning more than the next episodes. Will Henry and Big Guy come with, if she has to leave?

Someone on WX was asking for shirtless Robin Dunne. They certainly got what they wanted last night.

Unrelatedly, David Tennant on Catherine Tate's Christmas Carol special.
