Random question - has The Doctor ever died/transformed alone before?
(I think) Strega linked a blog entry above that listed, among other things, how Ten's death was sort of a compilation of the deaths of the other Doctors. That RTD borrowed something from each of their deaths. For one, it mentioned a doctor that died alone, but I forget which one.
Two was regenerated by decree by the Time Lords (it was his sentence after the trial storyline concluded, that and being stuck on Earth with a disabled TARDIS), so he was alone.

Found that, thanks. Interesting take on things. But I disagree with his positive take on Matt Smith, at least for now.
I figured out what's really bugging me about him - his hair and forehead remind me too much of James Van Der Beek. Do not want this to become Dawson's Tardis. I doubt that will happen with Moffat, though.
They both walked off with Captain Jack and were supposed to show up in Torchwood together. I don't think it has as much to do with them being black as it does with them being single and off pursuing the same job at the same time.
That was my thought too. And like Victor said, it's hard to date a civillian. Look at Gwen and Rhys.
The Doctor in the Cantina with Jack struck me as saying good-bye with, "Jack, its time to move on". It's also sort of poignant since all he wants is to live and Jack would likely give anything at this point to die. Either way you end up losing all the people you love.
I love the way he said good-bye to Donna. It's hard to reach your freakish potential scraping by on minimum wage, ultimately caring for your aging mother and grandfather. She's a little less trapped now. I also have fantasies of 11 hanging out with Donna at some point -- she'd never have to know as long as he kept her clear of spooky woo woo. That could be a fun episode, The Doctor moving heaven and earth to keep Donna away from weirness only to have her sleep through yet another cataclysm.

I don't think the problems of Dawson's Creek were related to Van Der Forehead's looks. Of course, I could be just more positively disposed towards him since he tortured Spencer Reid and got him hooked on dilaudid.

Now I'm pondering a Fringe/DW crossover. I think Ten and Walter would have really gotten along. And he might have stolen Astrid for a Companion.

That's such a great idea! I sort of have a weird feeling that Donna, out of all the RTD companions, might come back because I saw an interview with Steven Moffat somewhere online where he just gushed about how great Donna/Catherine Tate was.
