Angel: He is dead. Technically, he's undead. It's a zombie. Connor: What's a zombie? Angel: It's an undead thing. Connor: Like you? Angel: No, zombies are slow-moving, dimwitted things that crave human flesh. Connor: Like you. Angel: No! It's different. Trust me.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Shir, RTD told Tennant not to 'do' a Scottish accent. He uses a standard RP English accent on Doctor Who (although there's an Estuary twang to it, i.e. London and the surrounding areas).

Loving the Whorathon term. Will be calling all mega Who sessions this from now on.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

WHOATOA

Now that just sounds plain dirty.

I can't believe I wishfully heard DT's Scottish accent all this time, watching Who. Can't believe it.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I was watching a Whorathon

Hell, I wanted to know where to find it.

Compassionately intolerant

Seska and Shir, I totally agree. The WoM had such great psychological fodder. It pointed out the irony of the Doctor going all "I am the god of hell fire!" at the same time he clearly has an external locus of control.

Veeeery interesting. And a great ramp up to some of the other whitefonted speculation upthread.

I was sad about DT's departure, but I'm kind of looking forward to it now, just to see how it all pans out.

My one concern is that Matt Smith's bright, shiny youth will lead the stories in a more kidly direction ala Sarah Jane. That's not a bad thing, per se, except that I've really been enjoying the darky darkness.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Loving the Whorathon term. Will be calling all mega Who sessions this from now on.

A mega Whorathon?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I've been completely unable to get Handlebars out of my head for days.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My one concern is that Matt Smith's bright, shiny youth will lead the stories in a more kidly direction ala Sarah Jane

I don't think you have to worry about casting. You have to worry about showrunning. Do you think Moffat doesn't want to scare the pants off you?

I SO hope he does.

I'm probably worrying too much about nothing. It's just that the tv I can say I really like is mighty thin on the ground these days. Who has to see me through!

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I think they may successfully go the place the Whedonverse thought they could go with Glory - chipper, cheerful, shallow and scary as hell. Neither the writers nor the actress could pull it off. But I think the Whoverse probably can. Written and directed properly, Matt Smith could be a very dark Doctor indeed.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

amych, from the moment I saw it, I couldn't. get. it. out. of. my. head.

On the same note, it might be worthwhile mentioning that the things that get stuck in my head are very random. For instance, The Partisan's Song became a common reaction from my brain for anything that seems to threaten yours truly sanity and the connection with the fabric of reality, in a mild way. Bills, Intro to Quantitative Research Methods, a hunt after a cockroach are some of the examples coming to my mind of the past week.

And Moffat can scare the pants off of me anytime. And smith looks like such a cutiehead.
