Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

"Lots of planets have a North" indeed.

Hee. Yeah. Is he the only Doctor whose accent has been recognisably regional?

Well, Sylvester McCoy had a touch of the Scottish burr about him. Which is probably the reason they didn't want DT to use his.

brillig

I still like Nine better than Ten. I'm sad he only wanted one season.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

OK. I might be totally out of the blue, but... you're saying that Tennant didn't use his Scottish accent?

Because I heard Scottish accent. Hell, one of the nights I was watching a Whorathon. The following day, in class, when I read a passage in English (since I can't help but mimic other people's accents), I read it when a somewhat Scottish accent because of that.

Jesus, it's like I've been watching Who from an alternate universe, not an alternate continent.

And bonny and Seska, I'm with you, all the way with the mantra. He wouldn't get nor stayed there if he had a companion.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

He's doing an English accent, isn't he? He sounds different when he talks with his normal Scottish accent. Which he used in Blackpool, I think.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Have you heard Tennant speak normally, Shir? He has a strong Scottish accent. Hell, you can almost see him speaking differently. Someone, scare her up an interview clip on youtube. I can't get there from work.

I saw interviews, I saw (and recommend highly of) Takin' Over the Asylum - I just thought he's trying to speak more clearly for the part of the Doctor - but I still hear the accent.

I'm quite shocked.

No, he's speaking Received Pronunciation as the doctor. I'm interested to hear his American accent for his pilot.
