Wasn't it implied (although never directly said) that McGoohan's character in The Prisoner was the same guy he played in Secret Agent?

Yes. I loved the original Prisoner, but it was also very 60s. A remake to be any good can't be a very faithful one. I'm not even sure being faithful to the spirit would be a good idea. Although the end was very 60's in style, but very 90's in spirit - much irony and making fun of its own premise.
Now I'm wondering if I should watch the original, which is currently in On Demand. How long was the original run?
There were 17 episodes in the original series. AMC.com is streaming them for free right now! Go and watch!
Dude, I'm at work!!!!!
the original, which is currently in On Demand
Really? I know what I'm watching this weekend.
Well, it was a couple of days ago, all episodes. I didn't look to see if there was a charge though.
It's fun watching the original for all the British actors of the time. Leo McKern and the guy who played Tiberius in I, Claudius were both cast as Number Two.
I've been watching them on IFC, if you get that channel.
I don't know how long AMC is streaming the original series, but I'm hoping to watch it! I hope they keep it up for a while. Looks like CBS.com has kept Star Trek online, thankfully.
