Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Limited number of Kinos?
We had some kind of divine intervention on the calcite, the location Scott fell over on wasn't looking any particularly different than any other pile of sand.
Wouldn't surprise me in the least if it turns out the Kinos have the functional equivalent of a tricorder onboard and they could have set the command to "find Calcite" and sent them off scouting.
I wish there was some more upset over the two who went through the Stargate to another planet and then couldn't be raised by radio. Two less mouths to feed, anyway.
I loved Dr Nick suggesting that Eli put his arm into the puddle to try to hold it open -- that was a cool n' gritty calculated risk that I wish the rest of the writing and characters were up to.
I was thinking this ship must have puddle jumpers somewhere. Ancients weren't big into walking, you know?
I was yelling at the screen to send one of the Kinos straight up in the air, and rotate to get a 360 birds eye view.
Speaking of puddle jumpers, what was that small ship that took off at the end? Was that just the one with the senator in it being ejected?
Nope -- that departing ship was under power. I assume this means SGU were Under Observation or there are hidden Ancients around, or something.
FWiW, I like the series better than
Voyager
at this point.
I'm enjoying the plot, but could give two shits about most of the characters. We'll see how that develops.
(I'm heartened by Brad Cooper saying he wants SGU to be like The Shield in terms of continuity, but still skeptical whether or not he can pull it off.)
FF - I'm with possible-lesbian agent re: negotiating with former Nazis. Not a good idea under really any circumstances.
I'm also confused about Joseph Fiennes' endgame. Is he trying to prevent the future, or ensure it? Surely if he's trying to prevent his vision from coming true, he should be actively ignoring leads that match up with what he saw? Or at least sending someone else to check them out?
I don't think he's trying to prevent his vision from coming true except for the part where masked men with guns come to kill him. He trusts the information on his board, though, and believes that re-creating it will help the investigation. Basically, he wants to have it both ways.
There's also the possibility that Future!Fiennes is, alone of most of the characters (i.e. reading the sports on the throne) trying to send a MESSAGE back to his past self to prevent whatever is happening.

Ooh, that's intriguing. Still, from everything he's learned, his life is going to be pretty crappy in 6 months. I'd be doing any little thing I could to prevent (1) wife leaving, (2) daughter kidnapped, (3) drinking again, (4) men with guns after me, (5) partner dead.
I mean, at least put the photo in a different spot on the cork-board.

Ooh, what an awesome idea. Because, yeah, everyone knows when the future they saw occurred, so when that moment arrives, he would be ready.
Also, if I were John Cho, I'd start wearing bulletproof everything all the time. Frankly, none of these people are trying hard enough for me.
